Re: In which year can I take Civils exams? Presently I am pursuing B.Tech 3rd year

A student can appear for Civil service examination while in the final year of
qualifying exmination. You can take civil services exam with your final year of
engineering. As you are in your third year of degree right now. Which means you
can take the civil service exam next year.

However I would also like to add that you have less chnaces of succeding in the
attempt that you will give with your final year engineering year as you won't be
preparing much for civil services and major of your focus will be in scoring good
    marks in your final year.

And to succeed in Civil services exam you need to put in atleast one year of
hard work in studies. If you want to succeed with one year of preparation you
need to put extreme hard work(15-16 hours of studies per day) with full devotion.
Many successful candidates in Civil services succeed in their second attempt.

However you can start preparing for subjects like general studies, reasoning,
aptitude. After the change in pattern od the prelimainary exams , the entrance
test has become much favourable for engineering graduates and they have higher
    chances of getting success.

Civil service exminations are conducted every year in India by the Union Public
service commission (UPSC) of India. These exminations are held to select suitable
candidates with aptitude for civil services which are :-

    -Indian Foreign Service (IFS),

    -Indian Police services (IPS),

    -Indian Administrative Service (IAS)

The civil services are held in three stage which are as follows :-

-Civil services Aptitude Test (CSAT) which is a objective style paper

-Mains examination which is a subjective style paper.

-Personality Test or Personal Interview, for those who pass Mains examination.

Also most important point in your case is that you must be able to submit your
graduation degreeor engineering marksheets or proof of passing at the time of
    applying for Mains examination.

    Eligibility for Civil services :-

The eligibility for appearing in CSAT is that you must be a Graduate in any
discipline from a recognised institute or University.Their is no restriction
of marks obtained, class obtained or the duration in which the course is compleated.

You must have also attained age of 21 years which is the minimum age required
to appear in CSAT. The upper age limit is 30 years for General category candidates.
Their is a relaxation in upper age of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for candidates
    belonging to OBC classes.

Graduation is the qualification which is essential to attend Civil services exam. But, you can attend this exam even when you are doing 4th year B.Tech. Lower age limit for this exam is 21 years. Higher age limit is specified at 30 years. You should prepare for both the levels of Civil services exam so as to attend personal interview. If you are attempting this exam in 4th year, it is important to submit the B.Tech graduation certificate while attending personal interview. For more details on this, candidates can refer official site.

Re: In which year can I take Civils exams? Presently I am pursuing B.Tech 3rd year

The minimum criteria's that you need to fulfill to apply for IAS,IPS is
1)the candidates must have graduation degree in any stream from any recognized university(there is no percentage bar for any candidates)
    2)age limit-21 to 30 years for general category,21 to 33 years for OBC,21 to 35 years for sc/st
    3)number of attempts-4 for general category,7-for OBC,sc/st-unlimited
now you must understand that you can not apply for IAS,IPS unless you complete your b.tech(graduation),you are in the third year so you can not certainly apply for this current year,in the next year you will complete your graduation, but the next year the date of preliminary exam is 19/5/2013 and if you complete your graduation before that, you can apply,or else it is possible that you may have given your exam but your result is not yet out,you need to provide complete paper and documents which will prove you a graduate,so if you fail to provide the documents then you will not allow to sit in the exam in 2013 also
so you will be completely prepared in the year 2014,as till then you will get all your paper and documents and you will also become a graduate then.
