    HELLO DEAR

Well yes ,you have heard the correct thing. There would be a Physics Lab in your first semester itself carrying few credit points. So make sure you are up for it. The experiments wouldn't be difficult though. But you need to be disciplined and show some extra effort while performing your experiments because the lab assistants are told to have a close eye on your each and every activity by the HOD.

Most of the Universities have following Physics lab syllabus in common:

->Determination of thickness of a thin wire – Air wedge method.
->Determination of velocity of sound and compressibility of liquid – Ultrasonic Interferometer.
->Determination of wavelength of Mercury spectrum – Spectrometer grating.
->Determination of thermal conductivity of a bad conductor – Lee’s Disc method.
->Determination of Hysteresis loss in a Ferromagnetic material

Don't do any damage to any instrument otherwise you may have to bear the damaged caused (if any). While submitting your projects you would be given some marks. There may also be some Grand Viva conducted to check your knowledge. So perform well in all the experiments and Grand Viva.

Anyways best of luck for a bright and sharp career ahead.

    Regards

    Hi,
Yes, there is physics as a subject in the first year of engineering.
Every branch have common subjects in first year either it is computer science, electronics and communication, mechanical or any other.
Everyone have to study the same subjects which is related to your intermediate studies

So there is physics lab also along with a subject physics.
    Thank you

Yes,you will have to study physics in first year.you will have to perform following experiments-

    1 meldy's experiments

    2 young's double slit experiment

3 charging and discharging of capacitors

    4 various types of pendulum

5 verification of various laws in electrical physics

    6 young's modulus calculation

    7 semiconductor working

    8 P and N in semiconductors

9 Understanding the various types of telescope

    10 verification of bernauli's theorm

    11 various types of calipers

    12 various types of thermometers.
