Will BPO experience hinder my chances to get IIM admission calls even after securing good percentile in CAT?

hi,i am aditya.i passed my 12th in 2006.i was a really good student but i couldnt continue my studies due to financial problems and i joined a local bpo.since then i've been working there.now i hav applied for BCA from sikkim manipal university through distance education..i want to appear for cat and i'd be targeting the IIMs(i told u i was a good student)but my problem is my frnds told me that even if i get enough %ile to get a call from IIM they won't accept me due to 5years of working in BPO because they dont consider BPO experience.but i have seen a lot of guys getting admission in IIMs having simple graduation and no work experience.pls tell me if i can get admission in IIMs or any other elite college in india.
