    In order to become a collector, you should attend the Civil service examination. This is one of the most competitive examinations conducted in the country by UPSC. Any graduates in any discipline can apply for this exam. It is important for you to obtain the graduation from a recognized university or college. Minimum marks are not specified for graduates. You should be not below 21 years of age to attend this exam. The notifications regarding this exam will be published in the official website of UPSC. You can apply accordingly. Those who qualify in the written exam should attend the personal interview also.

    For becoming a District Collector::

    You have to appear for Indian Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC

    (http://www.upsc.gov.in) every year generally notification for which are released in end of December or start of january in employment news.

    Age limit: 30 years of age.

    Remember, Collector are appointed on Distric basis, and are IAS Officers

    So, becoming an Collector you have to first become an IAS officers through UPSC.



    Like wise any other employbility IAS has also post.

    After commissioning as IAS Officer one stats his/her career as an Under Secretary/ Junior Officer upto Cabinet Secretary the highest post for IAS officer.

    This is just designation awarded to them. Functioning includes Sub-Collector, Collector, Administrator, Advicer, Electorate Officer, Chaiperson, Additional Direct etc.......

    In order to become a collector (I hope your question is about becoming a district collector) you need to crack IAS!! After getting good rank in Civil services you will get IAS cadre, you need to work at least 8 to 10 years in different fields across India. After that period you will be posted as a joint collector, then you will be eligible to become a collector!!!

    IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services and conducted by UPSC every year. You need to overcome 3 stages

    CSAT
    Main exams
    Interview

    CSAT :

    CSAT stands for Civil Services Aptitude Test and is the primary stage in civil services

    Eligibility :

    You need a degree with good percent
    You must be an Indian citizen

    Age limits:
    The age must be between 21 to 30 years at the time of appearing of this exam

    For SC/ST category candidates : 5 years on upper age

    For Ex-servicemen : 5 years on upper age

    In order to become a Collector , you have to completed your graduate degree in any area from a recognized University and you have to crack the Civil Service examination.

    Civil Service examination is one of the top examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission and this year Civil Service examination last date for application forms was already over and the examination will be held on 20.05.12 . Next notification will be publish in the month of February or March(2013) in the official website of UPSC as well as employment news paper.

    Minimum Qualification for this examination is graduate degree with any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent qualification and final year candidates are eligible to apply for Civil Service examination.Any graduate or post graduate candidate can apply for Civil Service examination and there is no specific marks required for Civil Service examination.

    The candidate age should be between 21 years and 30 years as on 1st august of the year of examination and Upper age limits is given to the reserved categories.

    Civil Service examination will be conducted three stage :- )Preliminary(CSAT) 2)Main 3)Interview

    If you want to become a collector then you must appear for the post of IAS
    To get this you must write the civils exam which is conducted yearly

    DETAILS:
    Eligibility criteria for IAS /IPSexam:-

    Education qualification:
    Candidate should have minimum graduation degree with any discipline from a recognized university.

    Age eligibility:
    For General category candidate,age should be between 21 to 30 years
    For OBC category candidates age should be between 21 to 33 years
    For SC/ST category candidates,only minimum age is required i.e 21 years.

    Number of attempts:
    4 attempts for General category candidates
    7 attempts for OBC category candidates
    Unlimited attempts for sc/st category candidates

    21-30 years as on 1.7.2012 (upper age limit relaxable for sc/st/obc and certain other categories)

    Education qualifications:

    bachelor's degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subject namely science botany,maths,and many more
