Post graduation is the required qualification to apply for SET exam. You need to secure PG qualification from a recognized institute with 55% marks. Relaxation in marks is provided for reserved categories. If you clear SET exam, you can get in to teaching positions. You can also apply for this exam while doing final semester MCA. But you will be allotted provisional admission. You will be eligible to join only after submitting your educational certificates.

Thumbs up Re: What is the required eligibility criterion for SET? I am pursuing final semester M.C.A, Am I eligible for SET or not?

    Hello Friend

SET ( Maharashtra State Eligibility Test for Lectureship ) is a common entrance exam conducted by the University of Pune as a state agency and accredited to U.G.C and you must have to meet the criteria set by the SET board in order to appear for the examination.

By qualifying in the SET you will be recruited as lectures in various Universities/organizations/Institutions/colleges so that you will be placing a good opportunity.

If you have a Ph.D taken from the University and recognized under UGC 2009 act, then you are exempted from writing the SET exam and you will be appointed under the grades Assistant Professors or its equivalent in Universities/colleges/Institutions etc.

    Eligibility :

    - you must have completed Master's Degree from any Institution recognized by the U.G.C with minimum 55% marks ( without grace ) and 50% marks ( without grace for SC/ST/PH ).

    - If you have appeared or will be appearing the Masters Degree examination or if you are waiting for the results of your Masters program are eligible for applying the SET providing that they are admitted provisionally and become eligible after you submitted the Pass certificate.

    - If you are in first semester of the 2 year Master's program then you will not be eligible for the SET, so i say that as you are in final semester of your MCA course you will be eligible to write the SET.

    - M.C.M pursued candidates are not eligible for the SET exam.

    - If you have completed your Ph.D and had passed your Masters before September 1991 are also eligible for the SET.

    - There is no upper age limit for applying the SET examination.

    - SET will not issue any marks sheet and all, if you have qualified in SET then you will receive certificate.

Exemption ( for Eligibility of Lectureship ) :

    - If you have passed UGC / CSIR / JRF exams or any other SET conducted by any state for the Lectureship program accredited to UGC are exempted.

The exemptions may vary from time to time depend upon the SET authorities.
