    IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service. IAS Officer is the most respectable and honorable job designation in the society and so many candidates have dream to see themselves as an IAS Officer.

    In order to become IAS Officer, one has to crack civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.

    The selection procedure is as follows
    -CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test)
    -Civil Services Main Exam
    -Interview

    Here is the eligibility criteria for civil services exam.

    Academic Qualification :
    -One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university in order to be eligible for this exam.
    -Candidates who have appeared for final year exams of Graduation and waiting for the result can also apply for this exam.

    Age criteria :
    -One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this exam.
    -Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category.
    -Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category.

    Number of attempts :
    -For the candidates of General category, the maximum number of attempts are 4.
    -For the candidates of OBC, the maximum number of attempts are 7.
    -There is no limit on the number of attempts for the candidates of SC/ST category.

    You did not mention your highest levels of academic qualification. If you fulfill this eligibility criteria and if you are interested to take up this exam, you can apply for upcoming civil services examination which is going to be conducted in the next academic year on 20-05-2012.

    Age limits :


    21-30 years as on 1.7.2011. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories as specified in Para 3(ii) of Notice).


    Educational Qualifications :


    Bachelorís degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physcs, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring or an equivalent qualification .

    No. of permissible attempts :


    Four (Seven attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs (Para 3 (iv) of Notice)

    After completing your Bacholar Degree, you are eligible for IAS exams.

    So, Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognised by the Government are eligible for appear in IAS exams.

    Age limits -

    21-30 years as on (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories.

    Attempts -

    The general Candidates get 4 attempts And 7 attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs Candidates in this exams.

    Number of Exams -

    Preliminary Examination - It is of objective type, which is a qualifying examination.

    Main Examination - It consists of written examination and interview.

    Educational qualification: Candidate must be graduate in any stream under University Grants Commission (UGC)

    Citizenship: candidate must be Indian

    Age limit: Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years for general category, for OBC it will be minimum 21 and maximum 33 years , upto 35 years for sc/st candidates.

    The selection of candidates to IAS is done through UPSC CSAT exam. Those candidates who have completed their graduation are eligible to apply for the exam. The qualification must be obtained from a recognized institution. The age of the candidate must be with in the range of 21-30 years. Category based relaxation in age is offered for reserved (OBC and SC/ST) candidates. All Indian nationals with the above qualifications can apply. Other than them, subjects of Bhutan/ Nepal and Tibetan refuge can also apply.

    to become an IAS officer you need to fill a certain requirement
    firstly you should be in between the age group of 21 - 30
    secondly you should be a graduate in any of science subjects like zoology , botany , physics etc.

    the exam for IAS is conducted by UPSC(union public service commission) for the eligible candidates who want to serve country. The candidates who want
    to apply for the IAS exam should meet the eligibility criterias required. the notification for the exam is published on the official website of upsc.
    the candidates can get the detailed notification from the upsc website for any details such age limit,qualification required,syllabus etc. UPSC consucts the
    exam twice in a year.

    Eligibility conditions for IAS are:
    Nationality: Indian
    Age: 21-30 years ( relaxed upto 5 years for SC/ST, upto 3 years for OBC, upto 5 years for J&K domicile during 1980 to 1989, upto 3 years for a defence personnel disabled inoperations during hostilities in foreign Country, upto 5 years for Ex servicemen, upto 10 years for bind, deaf-mute and orthopaedically handicapped persons)
    Education qualification: Must hold a degree of any of the recognised universities .
    No of Attempts: GM - 4 attempts, SC/ST - no restriction, OBC - 7 attempts, Phisically hadicapped GM category - 7 attempts,
    Physcal Standards: The candidatre must be physically fit according to the physical Standards for admission to Civil Services Exam.

    Indian Administration Service exam is held once in year, this exam is part of Civil service exam and exam is conducted by UPSC.

    Eligibility criteria for IAS exam:
    Candidate should have complete graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university.
    Age should be between 21 to 30 years for General category candidates,21to 33 year for OBC category candidates,21 to 35 years for SC/ST category candidates

    Number of attempts:
    4 attempts for General category candidates.
    7 attempts for Obc category candidates

    Important dates for IAS-2012 exam:

    Dear friend,
    UPSC conducts CSAT exam for civil services every year.This exam is conducted to select candidates for civil services like IAS,IPS,IFS.
    SO if you want to become a IAS then you have to appear for CSAT exam.

    Eligibility for CSAT:

    1.Your age must be at least 21 years at the time of filling the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam form and not more than 30 years of age,33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs

    2.You should have a graduate degree from any college which is recognized by UGC, or possess an equivalent qualification.

    Procedure is follows:

    There will be two written exam and after that interviews will be there .All three are elimination round.You have to perform good in all three rounds.

    1.In pre exam two papers will be there,each of two hours a) General studies and b)Optional subject.Objective type questions will be asked.

    2.Main paper comprises of 9 papers,each of three hours.One of the Indian languages,2 papers on general studies ,2 papers on option-1 and 2 papers on optional-2.

    3. In the end interview will be there.Interview will be of 5-7 hrs.

    4.Merit list will be out.

    Following things will be in paper:

    Comprehension
    Logical reasoning and analytical ability
    Decision-making and Problem-solving
    General Mental Ability (GMA)
    Data Interpretation

    Important dates:

    1.The prelims will be held in May-June.

    2.The main written examination will be in Oct-Nov.

    3.Interview will be in the month of April-May.

    No of attempts:

    There are limited no of attempts for general candidates,if you are a general candidate then only 4 attempts,if you are a OBC then 7 attempts,and if you are a SC/ST then you have no limit on no. of attempts.

    1. You should be citizen of India
    2. Should have a valid Graduation Degree from recognize university by UGC
    3. Should be in age between 21-30 Years
    Its an exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission at all India level having two rounds of written test
    Preliminary Exam and then the Main Exam followed by Penal Interview

    ELIGIBILITY

    AGE : you should be between the 21 to 30 years on 01/07/2011.there is 3 year relaxation for OBC.5 year relaxation for SC/ST.
    Education requirement : you should have at least one bachelor degree with at least one subject out of statastic,zoology,mathematics,physics,chemistry,bo naty,bechelor degree in agruculture or forestry or in engineering.

    Maximum 4 attemps for open category.7 attemps for OBC.no limit of attemps for SC/ST.

    If you satisfy the above condition,then you are eligible for appy for IAS.

    The following qualifications are required to be fulfilled in order to appear for IAS (Indian administrative services) examination:
    1)Firstly the candidate should satisfy the criteria for minimum qualification.And this criteria is that the
    candidate should have at least a graduation degree.

    2)The graduation should have been completed by the candidate from a recognised university.
    The examination is conducted in a three step procedure which can be explained as follows:
    1)Preliminary exams-
    This is the first step in the procedure and every year lakhs of students appear for this examination.
    This is an objective examination and questions are asked from various subjects such as general awareness, logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude,English, etc.

    2)Mains examination-
    This is the second step in the whole process.The students are firstly shortlisted on the basis of score obtained by them in the first
    step.

    eligibility criteria to get registered for IAS exam:
    Educational qualification: Candidate must be graduate in any stream under University Grants Commission (UGC)

    Citizenship: candidate must be Indian

    Age limit: Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years for general category, for OBC it will be minimum 21 and maximum 33 years , upto 35 years for sc/st candidates.
