Re: What qualities are necessary to become an IAS officer?

There are various qualities that are required in any individual if he or she wants to succeed in civil services examination. These qualities can be explained as follows:
    1)Hard work-
There has been no such IAS, IES, IPS, etc in our country who has not reached that position without hard work and determination.
So, in order to succeed in this one of the most reputable examination of our country, you have to work hard day and night. You need to study at least 10 to 15 hours a day for
    about 9 to 10 months.

    2)Determination-
There are generally people who are not able to clear this examination in one attempt. So, you have to be really focussed and determined if you really
want to be a civil servant. People usually appear for at least 3 to 4 times in order to succeed in this examination.

    3)Good guidance-
You need a very good guidance to clear this examination. This is an examination that cannot be cleared without good guidance and mentor ship.
You should try to find a very good mentor for you who can develop unique skills in you and can also give you motivation to reach your goals.

    4)Good communication skills-
Being a civil servant requires a lot of communication skills as you would need to communicate with a lot of different kind of people after attaining this position.
