Re: What qualifications are required to write IAS entrance exam? Can I clear Prelims of next year exam if I start my preparation from this september? What is the pay scale of IAS officer? Do we have any chance to travel abroad in the tenure as IAS?

Well, you have too many questions in your mind about IAS(cool, I'll try to clear them all).

IAS - Indian Administrative Services conducted by UPSC every year once. You must have a degree(any degree) to write UPSC exams. If you get good rank (below 50 or 70) then you will get a chance as IAS. That means so much competition.

Without having any basics in your optional subjects you can't qualify even for prelims(first stage of IAS exams). You need to be focused to get qualified.

What qualifications are required to write IAS entrance exam?

    Eligibility criteria for IAS:

You must be a citizen of India.

    Age limits:
You must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination.
The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below:
upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST.
upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes(BC's)

You must complete your Graduation Degree(No restriction in Min.Percent)

    Number of attempts:
    - General candidates: four attempts.
    - Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction.
    - Other Backward Classes: seven attempts.

Can I clear Prelims of next year exam if I start my preparation from this september?

You can clear if you have good grip over basics and applications related to your field. Many of the aspirants qualified in first attempt itself. But, don't forget they worked really hard to reach that!

What is the pay scale of IAS officer? Do we have any chance to travel abroad in the tenure as IAS?

    Pay scale is:

And you will have a chance of travelling around the world sooner or later! Don't worry about that. Moreover, if you become IAS, you will get free quarters, less life expenditures. (Yes, I know the salary is too less, but you don't need to spend a dime on most of the things, almost on all things you will get zero cost)
