    Re: What are the qualification for IAS entrance examination?

    Dear brother,

    ->You can go for IAS(Indian Administrative Service) if you scored good rank in CIVILS which is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) every year...
    ->UPSC has changed the pattern of highly respected IAS exam from 2011 .
    In the new pattern the Preliminary Test (PT) for IAS exam is replaced by Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT).
    ->It will be of 3phases::
    -Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT)
    -Mains
    -Interview....

    Eligibility criteria for IAS:::

    * Only Indian nationals are eligible
    * Age limits for IAS:
    - You must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination.
    The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below:
    upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST.
    upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes(BC's)

    * Number of attempts::
    - General candidates: four attempts.
    - Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction.
    - Other Backward Classes: seven attempts.

    ->Preliminary Examination would consist of two papers- Paper I and Paper II.
    Syllabus for CSAT as proposed by UPSC
    (Paper 1) (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs....
    ->(Paper II) (200 marks) Ė Duration : Two hrs
    ->The final interview is of 300 marks.

    ** Every candidate is asked for his preferences in civil services. Mostly choose IAS but a few also choose Indian Foreign Service.
    The entire selection process lasts 15-20 months....
    A Candidate may make 4 repeated attempts.

    About 300-400 candidates are finally selected but a rank in 50-60 can guarantee IAS-IFS selection....
