Re: What is the procedure to become a chartered accountant?

You have not mentioned what are your educational qualifications. In order to join CA course you have to clear 3 main levels CPT, IPCC and final CA level. The educational qualifications will differ as per each level. CPT is the entry level test for which a candidate has to register after 10th class and the CPT exam can be attended only after completing 12th class. This will help you to enter into the second level of CA i.e. IPCC. If you are a graduate you can directly apply for IPCC without attending the CPT exam. If you qualify in IPCC you have to undergo article ship training for 3 years. CA final course can be attended only after successfully completing this training.

All The Above Entrance Exams are Conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

To Register for the CPT Exam you need to complete your 10th Standard and to appear for the exams you have to complete your 10+2 from a recognized board. You Should have good Analytical and Number Skills.

The CPT Exam Consists of 4 papers:

After that you have to appear for the PCC exam. If you have failed in the 10+2 Qualifying exam but have been qualified in the CPT exam then you no need to appear for the CPT exam again. You can Directly appear for the PCC exam.

After Completing your PCC examination you can appear for the Finals. You need to complete a training of 3 and a half years and after which you can appear for the exam.
