You can get registered with the institute of chartered accountants as and when you want to start your exams for the purpose of becoming a chartered accountant.
The procedure to become a chartered accountant can be explained as follows:

Firstly you have to get registered with the institute for the initial level of examination that is CPT(Common proficiency test).
This exam is conducted in two modes firstly online examination and secondly written examination. The written examination is held twice a year in the month of june and December.
After getting registered the institute would provide you with a set of books and a admit card so that you cam sit for the examination.
In the intermediate level, you have to score at least 505 marks to clear the examination. The exam is an objective one and you have to get at least 100 out of 200 marks.
There are four sections in this exam- Fundamentals of accountancy, Economics, Mercantile law and quantitative aptitude.

After clearing this examination , you would be required to register for the next level that is IPCC(Integrated professional competence course).
This exam is an subjective examination consisting of various subjects such as -
    Audit
    Financial management
    Cost Accounting
    Accountancy group 1
    Accountancy group 2, etc.

If you cleared this examination, you need to register for the level that is Ca final. But before that you need to clear three years of internship under a chartered accountant
    who is practicing in India.
