There are 3 types of Indian Civil Service exam and this exam is being conducted by UPSC and the post of IAS is one of it.For joining in as a IAS officer you need to write the IAS Exam.
There are many entrance exam conducted in India and as like them you need to satisfy the eligibility criteria framed for the exam in order to apply for the IAS exam.
Candidate wishing to apply for the IAS Exam must be a citizen of India
The candidate of General category must have 21-30 years.
There are upper age relaxation for other category candidates and they are for SC/ST it is 21-35 years.
For OBC candidate it is 21-33 years.
The education qualification for the IAS exam states that the candidate must have completed a degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a fair percentage in order to be eligible for applying
There are certain attempts that are allowed for the exam and they are :
Number of Attempts :
For General candidates :- 4 attempts
For SC/ST candidates :- No limits.
For OBC candidates :- 7 attempts.
The candidate are selected for the post through 3 stages:
>> Preliminary Exam
>> Main Exam
