To appear for the engineering entrance exam it is a must that you should have studied both Physics and Chemistry in 12th standard. But since you had taken commerce you are not eligible for the exam. But you do have the option to go in for a Diploma course. You only need 10th standard marks for the same. You also may need to appear for the entrance exams of these technical institutes. On completion of the Diploma course you can appear for lateral entry test for degree course. You will be eligible to join directly for the second year. You will loose only one year in this process. If you are keen to be civil engineer you must consider this option.

As to become a Civil engineer candidates have two options. One is to take up Diploma in Civil Engineering after 10th class. Another is to go for a Degree in Civil Engineering after 12th standard in science. The procedures to join in both these courses are different. A Diploma is always considered inferior to a Degree in civil engineering. As you have done a 12th in commerce you won’t be eligible to attend the entrance exam or join in any B.Tech courses. Even though you can appear in the entrance test carried out by the Technical Education Boards of various State Governments. This will help you to join in the various Diploma Collages. This exam will have objective questions from PCM subjects along with English and aptitude.

For engineering the minimum criteria is 12th with physics, chemistry and maths so you are not eligible for civil engineering.

No , you cannot take admission in any engineering college till you don't pass +2(non-medical) with
    atleast 60% marks.

You must pass +2 with atleast 55% marks to become eligible for B.Tech.
After passing +2 you will have to appear in AIEEE.
AIEEE is a national elvel test and on the basis of AIEEE. you will get admission in some good engineering college.
You must work hard to achieve a goo rank in AIEEE.

    Best of luck

Re: What are the methods to become an civil engineer after hsc in commerce

Engineering is not a study-area for Commerce students.

For any stream of Engineering, be that Civil, Mechanical, Electronic, CSE, E&T, etc, one has to compulsorily be a +2 pass-out with Science background only.
In Science, he/she should have Maths as one of the subjects.
Thus, an engineering aspirant should go for opting PCM group (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) in one's +2.
One can also study Biology along with the PCM combination, which is offered at many places.
With PCMB combination, one can study B.Tech, which is considered equivalent to B.E.

But Science background is mandatory in +2.

After successfully getting through +2 in Science, one has to take entrance tests like CET, AIEEE, JEE, etc, so as to be eligible for pursuing B.E in whichever field applicable.

Thus, you would not be able to give such entrance exams, as the mandatory requirement is again +2 with PCM.
Thus, you being a Commerce student, cannot go for Engineering in any of the B.E streams, in your case, Civil Engineering.

    VITEEE
    KITEEE
    CPET
