    JRF stands for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)

    National Eligibility Test (NET) Exam

    University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) every year.

    It is conducted to determine eligibility of entrants for lectureship or to award Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

    You can also appear for both at the same time.

    Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) conducts UGC-CSIR NET for certain Science subjects like Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Chemical Sciences etc.

    The real aim of conducting NET exam is to ensure that only qualified professionals with minimum standards are getting into teaching profession and research.

    It is conducted twice a year i. e; during the month of June and December.

    The notification regarding the exam will be published through leading newspapers during March and September respectively.

    Structure and Pattern of NET exam

    For both lectureship and JRF same question paper is prepared by UGC

    It constitutes subjects as follows;

    Paper I -Objective Type- General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Methods (50 questions) – 100 Marks

    Paper II- Objective Type – Core Subject (50 questions)- 100 Marks

    Paper III- Descriptive Type – Core Subject – will have four sections. Section 1- 5x5= 25 marks (30 words), Section 2 –15x5=75 marks (30 words), Section 3- 5x12= 60 marks (200 words) and Section 4- 1x40= 40 marks(1000 words)

    Grand Total = 400 marks


    Qualification Criteria for NET exam

    You must have completed Post Graduation in the desired subject.

    They must have secured Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% from any reputed college under UGC recognition.

    If You are appearing for last semester exam ; You can even attend NET exam.

    Thirty Five years is the maximum age limit.

    There is relaxation of 3 years OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

    JRF is Junior research Fellowship, which you can get by clearing the minimum requirement of 60% marks in NET exam. By clearing this paper you will get become a research scholar and would be paid stipend for it....

    JRF exam is conduct for you who wants to go in Research field.

    To eligible for these exam you must have mater degree(post graduation) with minimum of 55% marks & 50% for ST/SC/PH/Females.

    Application Procedure for NET & JRF Exam:

    You have to apply online before the specific date announced by UGC through this link- http://ugcnetonline.in/
    Two print-outs of filled in online application form,exam attendance slip and admission card at the respective centers (with fee receipt and category certificates) are the documents required for applying to this exam.
    This will be of 450rs/- for General and 110 rs/- for SC/ST.
    You have to pay this through SBI Challan form Via Online.

    Tips to prepare for JRF & NET exam

    ->> Take your attention basically on following subjects because they are fetching, and also brush up your reading skills , that would be helpful .

    Humanities, Social Sciences (including languages), Computer Science and Applications and Electronic Science, Environment Science,Mathematical sciences etc.

    ->> Devote as much time as possible to get in to the subjects & concepts

    ->> Improve your speed in multiple choice questions by taking mock tests, improve your writing skills for essay questions and short answer questions.

    NET stands for National Eligibility test. This exam conducted by the UGC once in a year.

    Eligibility criteria:

    the candidate should be citizen of india.

    The candidate should complete the post graduation from a recognized university.

    There is no upper age limit for the NET exam.

    But the JRF candidates the age limit should be between 18 to 28 years.

    National Education testing bureau of University Grants commission ( UGC ) conducts the National Eligibility Test ( NET ) to determine the eligibility for lectureship and to award the Junior Research Fellowship ( JRF ) for Indians inorder to maintain the qualities and standards in teaching profession and research.

    The test is mainly focusing on the parts like

    1. Humanities ( including languages )
    2. Social studies
    3. Environmental Sciences
    4. Computer Sciences
    5. Electronic Science and its application


    These test are conducted twice in a year in the month of June and December and if you are interested to pursue research, JRF is available for 5 years subject to fulfillment of certain conditions. UGC giving a variety of fellowships to all who qualify the JRF. After you are qualifying the JRF you will be awarded with the meritorious eligibility for lectureship in the NET.

    The test for JRF is conducting by the UGC since 1984, and it is recognized by the government of India for conducting the lectureship test.

    APPLICATION PROCEDURE :

    The application for applying the UGC - NET will be given in the notification published in the month of March and September in all the Employment News Papers and also you can go through the link http://www.ugc.ac.in

    If you are from Science stream then the syllabus includes

    1. Chemical Sciences
    2. Earth Atmospheric and Ocean, Planetary Sciences
    3. Life Science
    4. Mathematical Science
    5. Physical Science


    The examination for the Science stream conducted jointly by the CSIR ( Council for Scientific and Industrial Research ) and UGC. The notification for this can separately issued by the CSIR.

    NET(National Eligibility Test ) is conducted by UGC to select candidates for lecturer post in colleges.

    NET exam is held 2 times a year.

    There are 2 types of Posts for which you can apply in NET:
    1.Lectureship post

    2.Junior Research Fellowship(JRF).JRF are post for those who wants to do research or you can say P.hd in any govt. university.

    Eligibility for NET exam:

    1.Your age must be within 28 years for JRF,you will 5years age relaxation if you belong to SC/ST,BC and PH category .

    2.You must have done your post graduation degree with min. 50% marks.

    3.If you are in Final year of your PG then you are also eligible for NET exam.


    Pattern of NET Exam:


    NET exam consists of 3 different Papers:

    All three papers are objective type from this time on.

    Paper I contains

    - General Knowledge
    - Current Affairs
    - Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Methods

    Paper II contains

    - Your Core subject.

    Paper III contains

    - Your core subject.

    In all 3 papers negative marking will be there.

    NET(National eligibility test).It is an National level entrance examination conducted by UGC(University grants commission) and twice a year

    i.e is in December session and May session.

    Post Graduate candidates can apply in this and this exam is meant to study Ph.D,research fellowship and for eligibility test for lectureship in Indian universities.

    -->JRF stands for Junior research fellowship i.e scholarship is awarded to those who clear NET.

    JRF stands for JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP and it is conducted by UGC(University Grants Commission) for the selection of candidates for the JRF and LECTURESHIP.

    The SCHEME OF THE EXAM IS:

    There are three papers conducted and they are:

    Paper I -Objective Type
    • General Knowledge
    • Current Affairs
    • Reasoning Ability
    • Quantitative Methods (50 questions) – 100 Marks

    Paper II- Objective Type – Core Subject (50 questions)- 100 Marks

    Paper III- Descriptive Type test of Core Subject and has four sections.

    1)You must have completed Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from university recognized by UGC.

    2)If you are in the final year of the Master's Degree then also you are eligible for the exam.

    3)IF you have done P.HD then also you are eligible.

    4)You must have secured the minimum of 55% marks in Master's degree and A 5% relaxation in marks in given to the Reserved category candidates.

    5)AGE CRITERIA:

    5.1 For Junior Research Fellowship: You should not be more than 28 years as on 01.12.2011. 5 years of relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH categories candidates and to women applicants.

    5.2 Lectureship: There is no upper age limit for applying for lectureship eligibility.

    Jrf net stands for 'Junior research fellow national eligibility test ' and is meant for science postgraduates who are willing to pursue a phd degree and also want to teach at the same time... If you get selected through that exam you can select an institute where you want to pursue phd.degree... These scholars get a stipend of around 18,000 a month along with other allowances...The exam is conducted twice a year...

    And every year UGC conducts the "" NET "" exam for the "" JRF ""

    So It helds twice in a year ( June and December )

    You must have a Post Graduation from a recognized university

    And you must have secured a minimum of 55% in Academics

    Maximum age is allowed up to 28 years only ...
