    It is not clear which exam you are referring to. If you mean Civil Service then preliminary exam is the first part of the selection procedure. Candidates are required to appear for two parts. In the first part there will be questions from areas like General Science, Current events, History of India, Economic and Social Development etc. The second part will test you in areas like mental ability, logical reasoning, comprehension, interpersonal skills etc. Both the parts will be for 200 marks and the duration will be two hours. Candidates need to appear for both these papers else they will be disqualified. Details on the exam are available in the UPSC site.

    There will be 3 phases while recruiting IAS aspriants.

    1st phase is prelims

    Selection process:
    1.Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT)
    2.Main Exams

    Preliminary or simply CSAT is the first tier within the 3 stage IAS exam.
    It's usually conducted around 2nd or third Sunday each May in which around 1.5 lac IAS aspirants appear for the Preliminary.

    The Prelims includes 2 papers of two hundred scores equally common to all applicants.
    Paper 1 consists the Questions on:
    - Indian politics
    - Current affairs
    - GK
    - Indian History
    - Geography
    - General Science and Economy

    And the 2nd paper comprises of questions about:
    - Mental ability
    - Comprehension skills
    - Logical reasoning
    - Passage
    - Statistics and decision making ability.

    The outcome of Prelims are announced during the 2nd week of August.
    And you will qualify for the 2nd level(Main Exams) of this IAS Exam - if have finished prelims successfully.

    You can go for IAS(Indian Administrative Service) if you scored good rank in CIVILS which is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) every year

    Paper - I one of the Indian Languages

    Paper - II English

    Paper - III Essay

    Paper - IV & V General Studies

    Paper - VI,VII,VIII & IX Any two optional Subjects

    Languages any one paper 300 marks from the given below

    Arabic , Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Chinese, Dogri, English, French, German Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Pali, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Santali Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu

    Eligibility criteria for IAS::

    You must be a citizen of India.
    Age limits:
    You must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination.
    The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below:
    upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST.
    upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes(BC's)

    You must complete your Graduation Degree(No restriction in Min.Percent)
    Number of attempts::
    - General candidates: four attempts.
    - Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction.
    - Other Backward Classes: seven attempts.

    You can't choose the following combination of subjects:

    (a) Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration;
    (b) Commerce & Accountancy and Management;
    (c) Anthropology and Sociology;
    (d) Mathematics and Statistics;
    (e) Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.

    CS course is a company secretary course.ICSI should conducts he CS course.

    The minimum eligiblity for to appering the CS exam is you have to complete your 12th from any recognized university or baord.

    The course is divided into 3 stages....

    Foundation progarme
    Executive progarme
    Professional progarme

    A student has to undergo 15 months management raining in companies sponsered by the institute after passing the executive or professional progarme or under the guidance of a company secretary in practice.

    After qualifying professional and on successful completion training a candidate is admitted as an associate member of the ICSI and can use the letters.

    The minimum eligilbity for to appering the foundational progarme is yuo haev to complete the 12th.After qualifying the foundation progarme yuo can register for executive progarme.

    If you are garduate directly you can go for executive level.
    The candidates who are success fully complete the final level progarme...

    The fee for CS foundation progarme is Rs.3600/-
    For executive progarme-Rs.7000/-.
    While-Rs.7750/- for non commerce students..
