4.Indian Supply Service

First let you know that railway is not a public sector unit. It is a central government organization. And also Bachelor of Engineering to acquire a job in railways and no need for Mtech. The different jobs in railways are listed below :
1) Officer Cadre - You can enter through the Engineering Services Examination through UPSC.
2) Section Engineer - You can enter through the Examination conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board.

Considering Railways, the Mechanical Department has a wide scope and there are more number of jobs asked every year when compared to ECE. Finally I conclude that Mechanical Engineers are having greater opportunities in Railway.

No it is not necessry to do M.TECH in railway jobs according to me MECH is best among your choices

The Railway Recruitment Board carries out a range of examinations annually for the recruitment of suitable candidates into the RRB. Some of the exams that are carried out by the Board are the Combined Engineering Service for Indian Railway Service of Engineers and Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers. The Indian Railway Services of Signal Engineers and Indian Railway Store Service are examples of other exams. These exams are carried out together by the RRB and the UPSC.

At first i tell you that M.tech is not compulsory for getting a job in railway.

You can join either mechanical or ece branch but don't worry both are under the list of IES exam means either you join mech. or ece you are eligible for IES exam of UPSC.

If you qualify IES exam then there is chance to get a good engg. post in railways.
