    IAS is Indian Administrative Service which is the administrative civil service. The officers of IAS hold strategic post under both Central and Sate Government. They play major roles in the management of bureaucracy under government of India. UPSC conducts civil service exams for recruiting officers in IAS. The civil service exams are conducted in three stages CSAT, main and interview. The exam is highly competitive and you can join any coaching classes for better preparation. The officers are posted under various State government departments.

    Eligibility Criteria :-

    -->You should be a Graduate in any stream from any recognized University with NO percentage required.

    -->Age limit is 21 to 30years.

    Age relaxation :-

    For BC 21 to 33years.

    For Sc/st 21 to 35years.

    Number of Attempts :-

    For open 4 times

    for BC 7 times

    For Sc/st No limit.

    Selection Process :-

    IAS Exam 2012 Preparation Schedule
    July - September 2011: Prepare one of the optionals for Mains.
    October 2011 - January 2012: Prepare General Studies for both mains and prelims. Prepare the other optional for mains. Develop essay writing skills.
    February - May 2012: Prepare for the preliminary exam (CSAT).
    June - October 2012: Immediately after the prelims, start preparing for the mains exam.
    November 2012 - March 2013: After the mains, continue preparation for the interview and for 2013 prelims.

    ELIGIBILITY :-
    -You must be citizen of India
    -You must be graduate from a reputed university recognized by UGC.
    -You must had scored minimum 50% marks in graduation.
    -Age limit is 21-30 years of age.
    NOTE-Graduation can be done in any stream..

    For SC/ST the upper age limit is extended to 5 years
    For OBC the upper age limit is extended to 3 years .


    Number of attempts ::

    No of times the general students can apply for the exam is 4 ,SC/ST unlimited times and OBC 7 times .

    IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service.This is service post under civil Service exam.The civil service exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission to take qualified students into different government service post.

    If you qualify Civil Service exam and become a IAS officer.Then you will in charge to look after the administration for a particular complete district as they government given posting.

    To appear for Civil service exam,then you should complete graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university.And your age should be between 21 to 30 years.

    Civil service exam consist of Preliminary exam and Main exam.
    Preliminary exam notification will release in the month of Feb every year and exam will held on May month every year.
    After clearing Preliminary Exam,then you appear for Main exam.
    Main exam will held on Sept every year.

    The Indian Administrative Service ( IAS) is the administrative civil service of the Government of India.

    The minimum age requirement for appearing for the Civil Services Preliminary Examination is 21 and
    the upper age limit is 28 years. The minimum academic requirement is graduation in any discipline from
    a recognised Indian University or an equivalent academic qualification. There is a relaxation for SC/ST
    candidates on the number of attempts, if they are otherwise eligible.
