    lpg means "liquified petrolium gas" it is used as fuel for vehicles, cooking, refregeration etc. lpg mixture consists of propane and butane. lpg also contains ethanethiol which gives smell to the gas

    so that we can detect gas leaks

    LPG - Liquefied petroleum gas.
    There are many aspects such as mixture, boiling point, combustion, vapour pressure, calorific value, safety, etc...
    It is difficult to discuss about these here.
    Hence kindly visit the following website " http://www.totalgaz.co.za/os/osgazso...8?OpenDocument "

    LPG MEANS.... liquid petroluem gas....... it is liquid and very light weighted.......................
    it is reliable than others because... it is cleaner than other in nature

    Liquified petroleum gas (LPG) Is a mixture of propane/butane.it has a simple chemical structure,it is the cleanest of any alternative fuels.its boiling point ranges from -42 degree C to 0 degree C depending on its mixture % of butane &. propane,on combustion it produces Carbon dioxide & water vapour.its applications are used in vehicles,cooking.

    LPG stands for Liquified petroleum gas.
    It is made of hydrocarbons mainly propane and butane.
    A powerful gas ethanethiol is added to it so that it's leaks can be detected easily.
    It is extruded from crude oil and natural gas.

    The specific calorific value of LPG is 46.1 MJ/kg .
    It has a narrow flammability range between 1.8 to 9.5% in air.
    The advantages of using LPG is that it is very effecient.
    Also it is Environmentally friendly fuel with minimum sulphur content .

    hello, the full form of LPG is liquid petrolium gas. it has different useful properties like low density and high fuel efficiency.So because of many useful properties LPG is very useful than other types of petrolium products.

    Hi
    LPG means liquified petroleum gas.
    properties in LPG:
    • LPG is mainly Propane (C3H8),
    • Butane (C4H10) or a mix of Propane / Butane.
    Since LPG has such a simple chemical structure, it is among the cleanest of any alternative fuels.
    LPG's boiling point ranges from -42 C to 0 C depending on its mixture percentage of Butane & Propane.

    LPG is just as safe as any other fuel. In fact, it is safer than most fuels because neither LPG itself nor the end products that are produced by burning LPG in a suitable appliance, are poisonous to inhale. Since LPG cannot burn without air, there can never be a 'Flash-back' into the cylinder.Hence it is reliable.

    thank you

    Re: What is the full form of LPG? What are the chemical properties of it? Why it is reliable than others?

    Hello friend !!

    LPG stands for Liquefied Petroleum Gas.

    Definition :

    LPG may be defined as those hydrocarbons which are gaseous at normal atmospheric pressure, but may be condensed to the liquid state at normal temperature, by the application of moderate pressures.

    Although they are normally used as gases, they are stored and transported as liquids under pressure for convenience and ease of handling.

    LPG Chemical Properties :

    The normal components of LPG are propane (C3H8) and butane (C4H10).

    Other Mixtures are :

    Methane - 0.1%
    Ethane - 0.20%
    Propane - 57.30%
    Butane - 41.10%
    Pentane - 1.40%

    1 Kg of LPG Contains :

    Carbon in Propane : 0.3 * (36 / 44 ) = 0.25 Kg
    Carbon in Butane : 0.7 * ( 48 / 58 ) = 0.58 Kg
    Total carbon in LPG = 0.83 Kg

    Preparation / Manufacturing of LPG :

    LP gases prepared from wet natural gas consist entirely of "saturated" hydrocarbons i.e. propane and butane .

    LP Gases produced from straight distillation process will have "saturated" hydrocarbons i.e. propane and butane (both normal and iso)

    LP Gases produced by both cracking and reforming processes will have, in addition to saturated hydrocarbons, some quantities of unsaturated hydrocarbons also ( i.e. propylene and butylene)

    LP Gases produced will have impurities like moisture & sulphur compounds like hydrogen sulphide and mercaptans. Moisture may lead to clogging of regulators, valves, etc. and sulphur compounds cause corrosion. Moisture and sulphur compounds are, therefore, removed by suitable treatment at the refinery.

    All the Best !!

    Thumbs up Re: What is the full form of LPG? What are the chemical properties of it? Why it is reliable than others?

    Hi friend,

    Well friend, LPG is the gas we use in Kitchen. Many consider it to be gas but it actually is Liquid inside the cylinder.

    At the mouth of cylinder, due to pressure it become gas and we successfully use it.

    LPG may be abbreviated as Liquid Petroleum Gas.

    It's highly flammable due to presence of chemicals like propane, methane, butane,pentane,etc

    It's is highly poisonous to inhale,.

    Chemical composition of LPG :

    >> Methane : 0.1%
    >> Ethane : 0.20%
    >> Propane : 57.30%
    >> Butane : 41.10%
    >> Pentane : 1.40%

    Uses of LPG :

    >> It is used in Household for cooking .

    >> It has also found it's use in Vechiles as non-polluting gas

    >> LPG is also popularly used as a refrigerant due to presence of butane and propane which are considered to be energy efficient.

    >> LPG is also used for agricultural purposes .

    >>LPG is also used to produce electrical energy by running turbines.

    Hope it helps!!

    Hi dear,

    Well LPG is Liquid Petroleum Gas. It is Used for cooking, etc in homes.

    It's one of the most cleanest Gases, and is non-polluting gas.

    >> IT is used as refregriator.

    >> IT is used as fuel for vechiles.

    >> It is used for rural heating.

    Thus it's one of the best gases ever used.

    Hope information helps!!

    My dear friend the full form of LPG is Liquefied Petroleum Gas. Most people misunderstood the Full form with Liquid Petroleum Gas.
    But it is Basically Liquefied in Place of Liquid.

    The Major components of LPG are Butane and Propane.
    Apart from the above Hydrocarbons it also consists of Methane, Ethane and Pentane.
    All these hydrocarbons are saturated hydrocarbons carrying only the single bonds.

    Their chemical formulas are given below:

    --> Methane= CH4
    --> Ethane= C2H6
    --> Propane= C3H8
    --> Butane= C4H10
    --> Pentane= C5H12

    The chemical properties of LPG are given Below:

    --> Boiling point= -42 degree Celsius to 0 degree Celsius.
    --> On Combustion LPG gives CO2 and Water Vapour.
    --> Ignition Temperature is around 500 degree Celsius.
    --> It is a colorless, odourless and non toxic gas.
    --> It is a very safe fuel.

    Uses of LPG:

    --> Cooking
    --> Rural Heating
    --> Refrigeration
    --> Motor Fuel
    --> Non Polluting and Environment Friendly.

    Dear Friend

    LPG stands for Liquified petroleum gas.

    >>It is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as fuel in heating appliances and vehicles.

    >>It is derieved from fossils fuels and is synthesised from petroleum or wet natural gas.

    Chemical properties of LPG:

    1.Composition:

    >>methane:0.1%

    >>propane:57.3%

    >>butane:41.1%

    >>ethane:0.2%

    >>pentane:1.4%

    Uses of LPG:

    >>It is used in most important household activity that is cooking.

    --->About 17.51 % of Indian population is reliable on LPG for cooking.

    >>LPG is used as referigerant due to presence of butane and propane

    >>It causes less combustion due to which it is used in vehicles.

    >>For production of electricity ,it is used as enery source for running turbines..

    Note: it is reliable than others becuase:

    1.It is chemically inert

    2.Easily available.

    3.Easy to store and its cost is very low as compared to other fuels.

    Hope the information helps you.
