Re: What is the exam pattern of IAS exam? What is the procedure to get the application form and also what are the eligibility criteria of IAS exam?

It is a three step selection procedure. You need to first clear the prelims to appear for the finals. Thereafter you also need to clear the interview round to be finally selected. For the prelims you need to prepare for the both the general studies and also an optional subject. You can select an optional subject based on your graduation stream. In the mains you need to answer a paper on the English language and also on any other Indian language. Also you need to prepare for two optional subjects and a paper on general studies. The forms for these exams will be available in the post office from 19th February. Make sure that you send the application form by the 21st March. It is a must that the candidate applying should have completed graduation. Also the minimum age required is 21 years and the maximum is 30 years.

ELIGIBILITY : GRADUATE FROM A RECOGNISED INSTITUTE. ANY STREAM WOULD DO.
SINCE YOU ARE A B.E YOU ARE ELIGIBLE.
THE MOST IMPORTANT IS TO CHOOSE SUBJECTS DURING IAS EXAMS.
CHOOSE THE ONE YOU FIND IT EASIEST TO UNDERSTAND.
SINCE YOU ARE B.E YOU CAN OPT FOR SOME MATHS AND PHYSICCS RELATED SUBJECTS.
THERE ARE TWO SUBJECTS. ONE SHOULD BE YOUR INTEREST AND OTHER ONE SHOULD BE THE ONE YOU HAVE EXTREME KNOWLEDGE IN.
EXAM PROCEDURE : PRELIUMNARY TEST AND FURTHER THE MAIN EXAM AND INTERVIEW IF YOU GET SHORT LISTED IN PRELIAMNARY TEST.
