the minimum qualification is to pass in 12th ..
and if you are interested in big jobs to have a bulk salary...then you must be graduate in mechanical dept.
or you may apply for a job by writing the exams conducted by RRB or UPSC etc..and ther by try to get a job ...later you can ask them permission and try to study further and then it will be easy to get promotion....

Its a Central government job.
First railways will give the notification about the filling of the application which will be available in post offices also.
Fill the form and take a draft of Rs 60 and send it to the board of railways. After checking the application form an admit card will be sent by the Railways board.
The candidate should take all his certificates and meet them for the document verification.

All candidates are eligible who have relevant qualifications can apply for the job.

The eligibility criteria depends on the post you are applying for. So, it changes from post post. For some matriculation is enough, while for some 12th is enough. There are also jobs for Graduates and engineering graduates.

In Railway there are so many posts-
Some posts required 12th passed candidates and some required graduation passed candidates..
So it is depends upon Posts-
For 12th passed posts AGE-
18 to 28
and for Graduation passed candidates-
Age-
21 to 30 years....
and also 5 years relaxation in upper age for SC/ST and 3 years relaxation in upper age for OBC candidates...

1:Special Class Railway Apprentices(SCRA) Examination
for that exam:
a)you should complete 10+2 and Bachelor degree with Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum of 50%.

2:Railway Officers Examination for the post of-
