Study the graduation course in Journalism so as to become a Journalist. Intermediates in any discipline can apply for the same. Various Universities and institutes offer diverse courses in Journalism, mass communication and related fields. Having a graduation in the concerned areas, you can only expect entry-level jobs. So it will be better for you to go for higher studies. Once you complete your Bachelors’ program in Journalism, you can pursue the Masters’ course in the respective fields. There are so many undergraduate journalism courses like print journalism, advertising, broadcast journalism, photojournalism and so on. You can study any of your interesting topics in the related fields.

Re: What to do after 12th standard to become a Journalist?

Journalist mainly needs practical qualification rather than theoretical knowledge. Anyone who have completed 10+2 in any stream can join for journalism courses. At the same time one should have adequate knowledge in English also. It must be one of the main subjects at this level of study. The candidates need not to be a graduate. Since you are a 12th standard student, you can apply for this course after passing the exams. There are many institutes in India that offers various courses in journalism. One can choose courses in this according to their interest. The journalist can work in different areas like newspaper, journals, radio, television, etc. There are wide varieties of opportunities to choose from.

Re: What to do after 12th standard to become a Journalist?

one must atleast hold a bachelors degree to become a journalist. and many are also pursuing Masters to enrich their career prospects. but before that, journalism expects you to take care of your English at elementary level itself. take interest in spellings, pronunciations, usage of language, kind of words, grammar, etc. one should write for school magazines, yearbooks, college newspapers, blogs, etc., all of this can be maintained into a portfolio which can be produced at wherever necessary.one must first read in order to write and edit later. therefore, to pursue journalism, read great writings like classics of American literature, etc.
the first step after +2 is to earn a degree in mass media, mass communication, where one will be equipped with media fundamentals, communications, interviewing, broadcast journalism, etc. and if possible take up second major like masters in any field of your interest such as worldly matters of any specification like politics, economics, international affairs, etc.
after that or if possible along with your studies, do write to real reporters and editors, ask them to allow you to visit their news room, take up internship under their guidance. this will provide you with real world work experience in your field.
you will enjoy, if you work wholeheartedly.......

First of all you should Do BA in englsh to increase your grip over the language. Most succesful journalists have Degrees in english. Then you can go for a degree in journalism or mass communications.
Otherwise you can directly join a BA degree after 12th specialising in Journalism or mass communication.
