There are different ways to enter both the fields,There is equal scope for both the branches .. You fisrt off all you should understand the difference between those two different branches .Merchant Navy is different field and Marine is different.Yes thats true that both you can complete after your 12th class.you need not to wory about the marks ,your marks are upto date .Both of them are good to opt.In India scope for marine engineering is not that much good because of less development in this field.

    hii

the different ways to join in Merchant Navy after B.Tech
    Merchant Navy after B.Tech
The Merchant navy comprises Engineers, Radio Officers and Navigators with specialized
marine training. Placement can be through private companies or Government. Normally
students join merchant navy after 10+2, but you can also join after engineering by doing
one year Mariner Course. There are four Government Training Institutes providing Pre-
Sea and Post-Sea training of international standard: Training Ship Chanakya, Navi
Mumbai, Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata, Marine Engineering &
Research Institute (MERI), Mumbai, Lal Bahadur Shastri College of advanced Maritime
Studies and Research, Mumbai. The nodal agency for the maritime studies in India is
Indian Institute of Maritime Studies http://iims.dgshipping.com/.
You can get more details on its website. Another option is applying directly to private
companies like Great Eastern Shipping, Essar Shipping, Pelican Marine, G.N.P. Cruise
Services, SESA Goa, Five Star Shipping, Barbers etc. They advertise regularly on
newspapers and also on their websites. You can also apply directly to companies
through the Careers section of their official websites. All the Best!

    good luck

    friend,

B.TECH is the most best way to join merchant navy because after joining the merchant navy through
B.tech you will be an officer and the pay of an officer is also good.

Candidates who are 12th pass with specialization in Physics and Maths can join in as a cadet. But since your score is low you cannot opt for this option. After completion of B.TECH a candidate can join in the field of engine cadet. This is a post available for engineering degree holders. Candidates must have passed Mechanical engineering or Naval Architecture. They must have atleast 50% percentage marks atleast. The maximum age limit for the candidate is 24 years. The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers course in B.sc Nautical science. Even candidates of this profile are allowed to join in this stream. If Merchant Navy is your area of interest the best choice then best choice is Marine Engineering as it is more related to the Marine section.
