The job of the Indian Administrative service Officer include policy making and administrative works at the National Level. These officers are selected on the basis of UPSC exam conducted on the National Level. Any candidate who is a citizen of the country can apply for this post. The PCS ie. Provincial Civil Service officer on the other hand holds a post in the state level. They will need to appear for the state level test. Also it is a must that the candidate applying should be a domicile resident of that state. The IRS officer has the responsibility of the tax collection of the country. It includes both the indirect and direct tax. They will be required to take care of the administration, policy formation and also collection of the same. For all these post it is a must that the candidate should have completed his graduation at least.

The IAS is the executive civil service branch of Government of the Republic of India. The IAS officer plays a vital role in the Central and state governments. They are the officers who have strategic positions across the country. The IAS officers are employed by the Union government through the UPSC exam.

The PCS or the Provincial Civil Service is basically the governmental services of the State Government. PSC officers mostly deals with the policy making process of the state to where they are allocated. The recruitment of the PCS officer is mainly through the PSC exam. Candidates who are the domicile resident of a particular state can only apply for the PSC.

The IRS officers are the 4th most respected officers in the Civil service Hierarchy. These officers include IRS-C&CE and IRS-IT. Most of these officers will have to deal with the collection, supervision and policy construction of direct and indirect tax. The IRS officers are also known as the Tax administrators on India. As to become an IRs officer candidates will have to appear in the UPSC examination.
