Re: What is the course duration of MBBS?

    Hi Buddy,

M.B.B.S Stands for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.

In India every student pursuing Medical studies undergoes 5 to 5 & 1/2 years in studying M.B.B.S, Every student has to undergo all the subjects related to a human body like parts of human body, it's importance, functioning, etc.... as a part of his education.

After completion of theoretical knowledge every one must do internship under the guidance of senior doctors for a probationary period of 6-12 months. After successful completion of this 5 year study the student will be awarded with Degree after he takes the Hippocratic oath.

With just MBBS you can go and continue as a doctor in any of the various hospitals, but if you wish to study further in various field and became a specialist then you can opt for various fields such as

    Orthopedist
    Cardiology
    Gastroenterology
    General Physician
    General Surgeon
    Skin Specialist
    Neurology
    Dermatology
    Gynecology
    Physiotherapy
    etc....

Depending upon interest you can choose shape your career, but the basic period of time required for a person to complete MBBS is 5 and 1/2 years.

    All the best.
