    Information About UPSC Civil Services Examination :

    IPS Stands for Indian Police Service.

    And To become IPS Officer, You have to cracked the UPSC Civil services examination. UPSC Conducts Civil services examination every year in two Phases : Preliminary Examination and Main examination.

    So, You have to cracked Both these examination along with Personal Interview. If you cracked the Personal Interview and Medical Requirements, then you are eligible to become IPS Officer.

    The civil services exam is one of the most respected competitive exams conducted in India.

    Preliminary examination are also Called CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) and In this examination there are 2 Papers of Objective with Same Marks and Duration, The questions in Preliminary examination are basically come form Maths, History and Geography. So please prepare well for Preliminary examination, this exam is compulsory for all and if you have cracked this examination, Then you are eligible to appear for Main examination.

    The main examination of the Indian Civil Services consists of nine papers. The first paper carries 300 marks and is an Indian language the candidate chooses. The second paper is English, of 300 marks while the third paper is an essay paper of 200 marks. Papers 4 and 5 are of general studies and is 300 marks each while papers 6 to 9 are on two subjects the candidate chooses. Each subject is of 300 marks, You will get 3 hours to answer each paper while the total marks here are 2000.

    So, As You know the UPSC conducts the Civil Services exam in two successive stages. The first is the qualifying, objective type preliminary examination while the second is the written main examination and interview. So please prepare well Only then you will be able to cracked this examination.

    Eligiblity Criteria :

    >> To apply for UPSC Civil services examination, You have to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline form a recognised Board.

    >> Final year Graduate degree candidates are also eligible to apply for CSAT Examination.

    >> Your age should between 21 to 30 Years, Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

    >> No, Minimum percentage is required to apply for this examination.

    About Notification :

    The Notification of This examination will be Published in the Leading Newspapers OR in the Official UPSC Website in the Month of February, If you are Interested in this examination, then please fill the application form Online By visit the official website in Next year. The Notification of this examination will be Published on 04/Feb/2012.

    The last date of apply for CSAT Examination : 05/March/2012.

    Preliminary Examination Date : 20/May/2012.

    Number of Attempts Allowed :

    If you are Belong to General category then you will get only 4 Attempts to cracked this examination.

    OBC candidates will gets 7 Attempts And No Limits for SC/ST Candidates.

    Hi..
    I appreciate your interest. Here is the detail for IPS -
    The eligibility is you should possess a degree from an Indian University. Final degree students can also apply for the preliminary exam.
    You must have attained the age of 21 years on 1st August of the year of examination & must not attain the age of 30 years on that date.
    You must be a citizen of India.
    There are also Physical requirements which you can know in detail in the official website.

    Great selection...! IPS is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) every year..! You should get a good rank in order to get IPS..!
    Almost the eligibility criteria of IPS is as same as IAS but you must have the physical requirements for IPS. I will provide the details of it including eligibility ..!


    Attempts for different Categories::
    If you belong to the “Open Category” you can give the exam 4 times maximum!
    If you belong to the “OBC” you can give the exam 7 times.
    If you belong to the “SC/ST” you can give the exam as many times as you want. There is no restriction on the number of times.


    Physical Requirements for IPS:

    • Minimum height of 165 cm for Men and 150 cm for Women (minimum height is relaxable to 160 and 145 cm for Men and Women respectively in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST)
    • Min Chest girth fully expanded: 84 cm for Men and 79 cm for Women. Expansion of 5 cm for Men and Women.
    • Total amount of Myopia (including the cylinder) should not exceed minus 4.00 D and total amount of Hypermetropia (including the cylinder) should not exceed plus 4.00 D

    Important:
    Presence of Squint(Cross-eyed person) is a disqualification for IPS!!

    ELIGIBILITY
    1)A pass in a degree from any University
    2)For IPS you must be a citizen of India

    AGE LIMIT
    1)21 years must be completed by the 1st AUGUST of that year,
    2)GENERAL-30,OBC-33,SC/ST-35;EX-SERVICEMEN WILL GET 5 YEARS EXEMPTION

    IPS SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
    The civil service examination is conducted by UPSC(UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION)every year. The examination has three stages i.e.,

    It is conducted in 3 stages:
    Preliminary Exam which is of objective type which consists of two paper
    1.General Studies (150 marks)
    2.Optional subjects (300 marks)

    Main Exam: conducted in October/November
    Consists of 9 papers and for 2300 marks

    Interview: If you are qualified then - there will be Interview/
    Medical Test done for you...!

    You need to appear for UPSC examination to become IPS , for this, following is the requirement:-

    • Your age should be 21 to 30 years(Including both years)


    • Age relaxation of 5 years is given to SC/ST/OBC candidate.


    • You should be graduate or should be in final year of such courses.


    • A person should know English and Hindi.


    • A person must be an Indian citizen


    If you meet this eligibility criteria , then you are definitely eligible to write UPSC exam.

    STAGES TO BE CLEARED IN THIS EXAM

    1.PRELIMINARY EXAM
    2.MAIN EXAM
    3.INTERVIEW



    Preliminary Exam notification date.
    Issuing of application form from 4th Feb 2012 to 5th March 2012.
    Exam will held on 20th May 2012.

    Main Exam notification date
    Main Exam will held on 15th Oct 2012.

    Number of attempts:
    • 4 attempts for General category candidates.
