Secondly, it provides the all necessary platform for the individual who want to pursue higher education in Doctorate degree.

Thirdly, it also provides student the opportunity to get involved in teaching line which is no doubt a respectable job in any society. For many courses like M.Phil, PhD, lecturer ship in the field of science M.Sc is a necessary criterion.[/COLOR]

To become a teacher you have to appear for NET exam. NET(National Eligibility TEST) is conducted by central gov. of India. It is the mandatory exam, which need to be cleared if a person wants to become a lecturer in any degree college.

But SET exam is conducted by state gov. to select candidates for the job of sr. sec. lecturer in school.

    Eligibility Criteria For NET:

    1. You should be an Indian.

2.If you have secured at least 55% marks in Masterís Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Masterís degree or equivalent.

3.If you are appearing for the final year exam of masters degree can also apply.

4.You should not be more than 28 years . A relaxation upto 5 years is provided if you belongs to SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH categories and to women applicants.

So my friend for a M.Sc student a lecturer's job is best.

Re: What are the career prospects for M.Sc graduates?

Soon after the completion of M.Sc which means a Master degree, there are number of avenues for the candidates to make their entry.

I suggest you to start with the career in the field which you are interested and where you have strong knowledge and where your strengths are being fully utilized.

You did not mention the specialization which you have gone through in your M.Sc course. Each and every specialization is having its own career prospects.

Most of the candidates who have done M.Sc, will opt for Ph.D and soon after the completion of that they will join as Professors in reputed colleges or universities. As this will take 3-5 yeas of time for the candidate to complete Ph.D course, they will pursue this course along with working in some college or by doing some other job.

If you are not interested to pursue Ph.D course, you can apply for NET Exam and crack the exam. You will be awarded Lectureship through this. If you have profound interest to become lecturer and interested in teaching, you can opt for this.

You can try for job opportunities in various public and private sector companies where there are open positions for which your profile best suits.

To be placed in reputed companies, there will be 5-6 rounds of selection procedure which may include
    -Written Exam
    -Group Discussion
    -Just a Minute
    -Communication Test
    -Technical Round I
    -Technical Round II
    -HR Interview.

Any way, this many not be the selection procedure in all the companies.

So, make sure that you are strong enough in subject knowledge and communication skills along with numerical, verbal and non verbal ability.

If you are interested, you can crack various competitive exams for to be placed in
    -Railway
    -Civil Services
    -Banks (POs and Clerks) etc.

Choose wise decision because this is very beginning of your career. Wish you all the best.
