    What can I do after 12th to become an IAS officer? Which course and degree is right for my career as well as for IAS?

    what can i do after 12th to become an ias officer?
    My subject is bio now i m in 12 class so what can i do after 12th & which course & degree is right for my carrier to become an Ias
    if i will not become an ias then what are the options left to achive a good carrier? Plz suggest me n i hope i will get my ans soon

    Well to become a IAS (Indian Administrative Service ) officer you have to write the exam conducted by UPSC .
    The eligibility criteria for writing this exam are listed below

    + Educational Qualification : Any bachelor degree

    + Age limits : 21-30 yrs (for SE/ST there have flexibility in the upper age limit)

    + No. of permissible attempt :
    General cast - 4
    OBC -7
    SE/ST- no limit

    + Fee for the exam : 100 rupees only

    Eligibility Criteria for IAS exam:-


    A.)Educational Qualification:-

    The minimum qualification required for appearing the competitive examination is Graduation. Many professionals like Engineers, Doctors, persons with Ph.d qualifications are competing for UPSC.

    B.)Age Factor:-

    1.> For general category :-

    21-30 years and can attempt 4 times.

    2.>For SC/ST :-

    21-35 years ,and there is no limitation .

    3.> For the OBC:-

    21-33 years and can attempt 7 times.


    Selection Procedure


    ** Preliminary Examination

    ** Mains Examination

    ** Interview Test

    No.of Attempts


    >> Maximum 7 attempts for general candidates

    >> Maximum 4 attempts for OBC Candidates

    >> There is no restriction for SC/ST candidates

    Paper Pattern for IAS exam :-

    1) General-Studies paper carries 150 marks

    2) Optional paper carries 150 marks.

    Instead of one compulsory paper of General Studies and one Optional paper, both the papers shall be compulsory.

    Well you have completed 12th and you have the inspiration to become an IAS officer.Many youths too have the same inspiration.

    The following are to be done to reach your goal mentioned above

    + First complete any bachelor degree that too choose three year coarse and not four year coarse because you no need to waste one year as your goal is to become an IAS officer.

    + IAS (Indian Administrative Service) exam was conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) twice a year.
    You have to write this exam and score good marks

    + For writing this exam you must be an Indian and your age must lie between 21 - 30 years (+5% for SC and ST candifates)

    + There is only limited attempt to write this exam

    General Category : 4 attempt

    OBC : 7 attempt and

    SC / ST : No limit

    So try your best with proper dedication you will surely achieve your goal and help our nation to develop in a right way.

    You want to be a IAS officer it is a good ambition.
    You can do it by your hard work.
    You can opt any subject for IAS officer.
    Friend first of all you should complete your graduation after12th in any subject.
    The minimum educational qualification for IAS exam is graduation.
    After graduation you can sit in IAS exam.
    Eligibility criteria for IAS exam.
    You must be Indian
    You must be completed your graduation with recognized University.
    Age criteria-
    For general- 21 to 30years
    For obc- 21 to 33 years
    For Sc/St- 21 to 35 years
    Numbers of attempts for general,obc and Sc/St are following,
    four times,seven times and no limit.
