    What all should I do to become an IES Officer being an Civil Engineering student? What to do to become IES officer and How to do the same,explain me clearly?

    Hey...i am a girl who has chosen civil engineering coz of my own interest..i luv it..n as my father wants me 2 become an IES officer..(as u know thy r soo excitd for d publicity aftr i gt it)..levin tht part i also got interest in tht field..tht's coz of my passion to give service to INDIA...(bt i cant do IAS)...so can u plzzzzz say m wat alll i hav do for becoming an IES officer...i entered into my 2nd yr of civil engineering 2months before...n i am studying in VIT univertsity...in i also hav some paper knowledge...help m out..plzzz...i dont hav any clue wat i ahv to do..pissd of wat to do..how to do..my career depends on ur ans..

    I.E.S Stands for Indian Engineering Service Examination.

    The examination is one of the top service in the Union Public Service Examination.

    The examination was conducts one time in a year.

    To apply for this examination,you should have a completed graduation in engineering from a recognized board or equivalent qualification.

    But,you are not eligible to apply for this examination.Because you are pursing the 2nd year of Civil engineering.So you can't apply for this examination.

    And only pass out candidates and final year candidates are eligible to apply for this examination.Lets see the eligibility Criteria for this examination.

    Engineering degree in Civil Engineering,Mechanical Engineering,Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering.Only these four engineering are eligible to apply for this examination.

    The candidate age should between 21 years and 30 years at the time of appearing and relaxation is given to the various reserved categories.

    Those in the final year of engineering degree can also apply for this examination.

    Hello,
    IES exam is conducted By UPSC Government of India.The exam will conducted every year by UPSC. Any Graduate Can write IES i.e Indian Engineering Services and the age should be between 21 to 30 years.
    The general category candidates can attempt the exam for only 4 times. OBC candidates can attempt exam for 7 times.And SC/ST candidates can attempt 9 times.Candidates must be physically fit according to the regulations given .
    To apply for IES watch employment news paper daily for the notifications.And also you can check in the official website for more information .

    in the question, you have mentioned IES and in the details you are talking about IAS, it's thus creating ambiguity.
    let me talk about both the prospects in brief:

    IES: UPSC conducts a combined competitive examination for recruitment to various engineering services under the Central Government .
    Engineering or technology graduates can appear for the combined competitive examination conducted every year.

    IES Stands for Indian Engineering Services and is conducted every year for the following Branch Students:
    * Civil Engineering
    * Mechanical
    * Electrical
    * Electronics and Tele communication


    So, You are certainly Eligible to write IES being a Civil Engineering Student..

    IES is conducted by UPSC every year...
    IES is for 1000marks.
    In IES You can develop upto DIRECTOR GENERAL Post



    If you want to become an IES Officer then Please Concentrate on the Following things:::


    Question Papers Range::::

    * Subject Objective Papers contain 120Mins(2hrs Duration) to identify 120questions.
    * No calculators are allowed.
    * Questions will not be SO PROBLEMATIC.
    * They will ask you more on BASICS and their APPLICATIONS.
    * So,you should have more grip over them.

    The Previous year questions morely concentrated on the following:

    Basics: 40% questions
    Applications: 40% questions
    Formulas and Graphs: 15% questions
    Assertion and Reasoning: 5% questions


    There will be 2parts in IES
    PART 1
    PART 2

    Part 1 is the WRITTEN EXAM....
    Part 1 contains;
    Section1: Objective exam
    Section 2: Descriptive exam
    Part 2 is the PERSONALITY TEST....
    ->1000 marks

    Section 1 contains 3papers: They are;

    ->OBJECTIVE TYPE::
    # General Ability Test
    # Subject Objective Paper-1
    # Subject Objective Paper-2

    These Papers contains 120 questions.
    Every question is of 4marks.
    Every Paper is for 200 Marks.
    Exam Duration is 2hrs.
    Negative Marking is for every 1/3 question...

    ->DESCRIPTIVE TYPE::

    # Section-2 consists of 2papers
    Duration is 3hrs.
    Two papers is of 400marks

    # Paper-1 will be containing 7quesitons.You Have to write any 5 of them.
    Every question will be for 40marks And the total paper is for 200marks(5questions*40marks=200marks)
    In Paper-2, You MUST write the FIRST QUESTION.This question will contain 80marks.
    And this First question contains 10SUB qustions.
    And remaining will be for 120 marks and contains Two Sections.

    * Section-A contains 3 Questions.You have to write any two.Every question is for 30marks.
    * Section-B also contains 3Questions.You have to write any two.Each question is for 30marks.

    # There is no Negative Marking for This Descriptive Exam .


    Part-2:::::

    If you have qualified in Written Exam then, they conduct Personality Test for you.It will be of 200marks.

    - Interview may be conducted Technically or Non-Technically.
    - If you did M.tech, then they will ask you more on your Specialization.

    dear friend,

    Yes, Civil engineer are eligible for IES exam.

    IES exam is conducted by UPSC in onece time in year.
    If you have completed engineering dicipline in following departments then you are eligible for IES exam
    1.Civil Engineering
    2.Electrical Engineering
    3.Mechanical engineering.
    4.Electronics and Communication Engineering.

    The applicant age should between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC candidate.

    The Notification was published in the month of January or February in Official website or employment news papers.

    Final year student also eligible for IES exam .

    If you are from different departments then also you are eligible but you should take one of the above departmenta as exam.

    IES stands for Indian Engineering Service

    This exam is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) and this exam is conducted every year for selecting candidates for posts in Indian Engineering Organization which are handled by Government of India.

    As you have asked for the information regarding whether you are eligible or not.Refer the below criteria's for information regarding them:

    Eligibility for IES:

    > Candidate must have a citizenship in India.

    > Candidate must have a age limit of 21-30 years for General Category candidates

    > Candidate must have a age limit of 21-33 years for OBC Category candidates

    > Candidate must have a age limit of 21-35 years for SC/ST Category candidates.

    > Regarding the education qualification for the IES exam you need to have done a degree in Engineering/Technology in departments:

    IES stands for Indian Engineering Service,conducted by UPSC once a year.Generally the exam is conducted in the month of May.For this year the exam is over .On 14 may.

    As you are from Civil Engineering,so you are eligible for IES.You have to keep track of the Employment News,advertisement for IES will come there.

    The post which you can have after successful in the exam are as below----------
    1. Indian Railway Service of Engineers.
    2. Indian Railway Stores Service (Civil Engineering Posts).
    3. Central Engineering Service.
    4. Indian Defense Service of Engineers (Civil Engineering Posts).
    5. Indian Ordinance Factories Services (Engineering Branch) (Civil Engineering Posts)
    6. Central Water Engineering (Grade A) Service (Civil Engineering Posts).
    7. Central Engineering Service (Roads) Group-A (Civil Engineering Posts).
    8. Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil) in P&T Building Works (GrA') Service

    IES stands for :Indian Engineering services.
    This is one of the good service for any Engineering students.
    The upsc conducts every year IES examination.
    The engineering passed and final year students aerial eligible for applying this examination.
    For appearing in examination you must have engineering degree.
    The following stream of candidates are eligible for this.
    Civil engineer
    Mechanical engineer
    Electrical engineer
    Electronics and telecommunication engineer
    are eligible to apply for it.
    Age limit:
    you must attained at least 21 years and maximum 30 years .
    For obc category three year relaxation is given.
    For sc/st category 5 years age relaxation is given.
