Required also not required also. Depends upon job requirement.

Maximum of DRDO posts requires specialization, but not required also. So it depends upon the type of job and its requirement by recruiter.

Lets have a brief discussion with few examples.

Let us considered the recent DRDO recruitment advertisement for CEPTAM Centre for Personnel Talent Management. There is requirement for 'Technician' in Chemistry Lab, for which minimum qualification is B.sc (Chemistry) from a recognized university, however candidate with higher qualification will be preferred. So, here they haven't mentioned about any specialization because they dont have need so. Therefore, it depends upon recruiters requirements also.

Again, the second thing on which it depends is for which center of DRDO requirement is. There are almost 50 Centers of DRDO across India. Each have different type of requirement. Some ask for specialization.

For example- At Centre of Remote Sensing there is requirement for Geochemistry, but since in India its not possible to get geochemistry graduate, so recruitment are done for geology graduate.

Again, DRDO has JRF programs also. So for JRF specialization in M.sc is must.

Again, for recruitment of polymer technicians situation can be filled by M.sc Analytic Chemistry graduates.
