NEET stands for National Eligibility cum entrance test.NEET is all India Medical entrance exam for admission to MBBS colleges in India.
This examination is conducted in first time in 2012.

The minimum eligibility for NEET is you have to complete your 10+2 with Biology as one of the compulsory subject with an aggregate of 50% marks for the general students 40% of marks for reserved candidates.


NEET exam is conducted for following subjects namely

• Biology
• Chemistry
• Zoology
• Physics

Before NEET students have to appear for different exams conducted by different universities,so to make the process easy for students one common exam is to be decided for MBBS and dental.


Eligibility Criteria for NEET:

1.You should be Passed 12th class examination with PCB(Physics,Chemistry,Biology)

2. You should have scored minimum of 50% (General category) and 40% (Reserved category).

3.If you are appearing for 12th board exams then also you can apply for NEET exams.

Type of Exam: Paper Based (for 2012)
There is no online exam of NEET.There will be 250 questions,all questions will be of single answer.

Schedule:

Date of Notification: last week of November 2011.You can apply online or offline.

Application Fees: Rs. 1000 (Unreserved category) and Rs 800 (Reserved category)

Last Date of application submission: January 15th, 2012

Exam Date: Last Sunday of May

NEET - National Eligibility and Entrance Test is a Exam for admission in MBBS colleges in India.


NEET 2012 UG Eligibility:

Candidates who have completed 10+2 in physics, chemistry and biology.

The NEET will allow 10+2 students to give a single entrance examination to get admission to almost all medical colleges in India, including private medical colleges, except AIIMS and AFMC (they will conduct their own Entrance Exam ).

One merit list will be created for about 35,000 MBBS seats .Management quota candidates should come from the national merit list.

The objective was to set up a standard for basic medical education.

Exam is going to held likely on 13 May, 2012

Exam Pattern

30% marks each for Physics Chemistry
40% marks for Biology.

Multiple Choice Questions would be followed for MBBS entrance.

paper will consists of 250 questions (75 questions from physics and chemistry each and 100 from Biology)

There are about 314 medical colleges in the country(144 colleges governed by State and Central

Governments and the remaining 170 colleges are under private

managements).Total available seats in Government and private medical colleges are approx 16398 and 19085 respectivelty

UPDATE ON NEET ::well you will be unhappy to hear that after heavy oppose and many disagreement from various states in India, Finally CBSE – Central Board of Secondary Education Declared on 12th Dec that NEET 2012 will now continue from 2013 – 14

Initially this examination had to be conducted for admission in the MBBS program for all the states colleges including private medical colleges There were only three college which were not taking part into this examination and those were::

Armed Forces Medical College
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)
Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research.

Eligibility for the examination ::

Interested candidates should have passed class 12th with biology as one of the compulsory subjects.

You must have scored at least 50% marks for the general students and 40% marks for the reserved caste students in class 12th exam

Examination pattern ::

There will be three papers and of different weight-age of marks for common MBBS entrance examination.The question papers is of objective types in English and Hindi languages .The total number of question were to be 250 which were divided in the following ways ::

Physics ::75 questions
Chemistry ::75 questions
Biology::100 questions

Duration of the examination -> 3 hours .

There will be negative marking for every wrong answer .

Probable date of exam: 13 May 2012

But from reports it is learn t that the exam may not take place in 2012 and would take place in 2013 due to some discrepancies.
