    Tips for selecting the optionals:

    >>The right optional is choosed according to your aptitude and also your interested subject which is more than just a passing interest.
    >>You should also keep a point in mind while selecting the option is that you will have to find out the study material,guidance,coaching etc.,
    >>You will also need to have the subject knowledge and should be taken the subjects of your graduation or post graduation if you are comfortable with the subject so that it will help in preparation.
    >>You analyse the syllabus in detail and also have a look on the last ten years question papers to get out of difficulties after selecting the subject.
    >>One important thing is that dont just take the subject becuase every one else is taking it.


    Choose the subject on your interest and prepare accordingly.

    I AM FROM COMMERCE BACKGROUND.PERSUING M.COM FROM DU.WANT TO APPEAR FOR CIVIL SERVICE EXAM 2013 ,I HAVE DECIDED PUB AD AS ONE OF MY OPTIONAL SUBJECT, BUT I AM CONFUSED REGARDING THE OTHER OPTION.I AM NOT PLANING TO GO FOR COMMERCE AS A SUBJECT , IT BEING VERY VAST.
    PLEASE ADVICE.

    Hi,

    IAS is Abbreviated as Indian Administrative Service and the exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission Board. The Notifications about the exams are published in the Employment newspapers or updated in the UPSC website. The exam is divided into prelims and Main exam. To apply for the exam you can visit the UPSC website to download the application. You can even apply for the exam offline but i recommend you to apply online.

    Eligibility:

    You mus be a citizen of India.
    Your age must be between 21 to 30 years
    Upper age relaxations applicable for SC/ST and OBC.
    You must Complete your graduation from a recognized University.

    You need to clear the exams within a given limit. if you fail to clear the exam you cannot re appear for the exam. A General Category Candidate can attempt 4 times, OBC Category Candidates can attempt 7 times and SC/ST Candidates do not have any limits.

    Exam pattern:

    The exam is divided into prelims and Main exam.

    The Preliminary exam consists of 2 papers and carries 200 marks each.

    Main exam: if you clear the prelims you can appear for the main exam.

    This exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year.

    Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.

    But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

    The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

    Also you must be in citizen in India.

    Optional subjects for IAS main exam:


    Economics , Electrical Engineering,Geography, Geology ,History, Law,Management,Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,Statistics, Zoology, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology,Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy.

    You can choose the subject in sense of your strength .

    The IAS selection process is consist in three way

    1)Preliminary exam
    2)Main exam
    3)Inter View.

    IAS is one of the prestigious job to do and it has such a great value that every one want to prepare for IAS, among all of them some of them can reach the goal who will have the strong determinations , who can do hard work, planning etc..
    as we know that there is change in the syllabus introduced by the CSAT 2011,
    the IAS exam will be consists of
    1. prelims,
    2. mains,
    3. and finally interview stage ,
    you have to clear the IAS prelims to claim the mains and than interview session,
    education eligibility,
    you can have graduate in any discipline from a university recognized by the university grants commission (UGC).
    if you are in the final year of your graduation than you can fill the main exam form.
    and you must be the citizen of india.
    age limit
    • you must be minimum 21 years of age maximum is 30 years ,
    • if you are belong to OBC category than you can have 21 to 33 years of age.
    • for sc/st 21 to 35 years .
    you can attempt 4 times if you are belong to general category and 7 attempts for OBC and sc/st there is no limit for the exam,
    the notifications for the civil services prelims will be appear in employment news and on UPSC's website on 04-02-2012.
    the exam is going to be held on 20-05-2012.
