IAS means Indian Administrative Service. IAS officers are the highest level officers of India. IAS officers are selected through UPSC Civil Services Exam. They start their career as sub divisional officer, then become district magistrate or collector. Then they work as secretary to state or central govt. IAS officers work in government ministries and departments. They assist the ministers in administrative works.
