    The syllabus is same as that you have studied in degree level.You can check the website of UPSC at www.upsc.gov.in.There you can find the notification for the Engineering services examination.In that notification,you can find the syllabus for all the four branches and all other criterias and details..

    Syllabus for IES exam for Mechanical Engineering

    IES exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year.

    If you have completed engineering discipline in following departments then you are eligible for IES exam


    1.Civil Engineering

    2.Electrical Engineering
    3.Mechanical engineering.
    4.Electronics and Communication Engineering.

    Masters degree in Physics and Radio Physics are applicable for IES exam.


    The applicant age should between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC candidate.


    Final year student also eligible for IES exam .

    IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service.

    IES Exam is conduct by UPSC. UPSC held IES Exam at all India level.

    IES(Indian Engineering Service) exam is conducted by the UPSC once in a year.

    Eligibility criteria:-

    The candidate must have to complete BE from any of the following discipline from a recognised university.

    Electrical engineering,

    Hello friend !!

    IES -- Indian Engineering Services .




    Eligibility to get into IES is :

    For IES you must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Economics/ Applied Economis/ Business Economics/ Econometrics .

    You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years.

    Relaxation in the upper age limit as per Govt. of India rules .

    And also you must be physically fit according to the physical standards for Indian Economic Service / Indian Statistical Servicce Examination.

    Exam Pattern :




    Structure of IES :

    The IES paper is divided into two sections.

    The candidates have to qualify in the written examination followed by a Personality test.

    The written examination is again divided into three parts.

    i.The first part is the general ability test.
    The duration of this paper is 120 minutes. It carries 200 marks.

    ii.The second part will be a paper on Relevant Trade.
    It consists of two papers. The duration of each paper is 60 minutes. It carries 200 marks each.

    iii.The third one is the conventional paper having two parts. It again carries 200 marks.

    The duration for each paper is 180 minutes. The total marks allotted for the above section is 1000.

    Those who qualify in the written test will be called for a personal interview. This interview carries 200 marks.

    Syllabus for IES :

    The general paper is conducted to test the candidate’s knowledge in English.

    The paper will mainly hold questions related to current affairs.

    It may also hold some questions related to Indian history.

    The portions for Mechanical engineering are :

    Fluid Mechanics,

    Thermodynamics,

    Fluid Machinery and Stream Generators,

    Heat Transfer and Refrigerator and Air- Conditioning,

    Elements of Computation etc.

    Cut Off in IES :

    you can apply for it after becoming graduate in Engineering..

    This exam is conducted to select candidates for various government jobs..

    Eligibility Criteria:-
    • Candidate should have completed his graduation in engineering sector.

      Candidate who has done his engineering in any one of the following streams are only eligible for I.E.S exam:.They are:-

    • Candidate should have minimum 60% in his enigineering from any recognized university.
