The foundation course is just the basic level of the course. As part of the course it is required that the candidate should clear the all the subjects under it. There are a total of four papers. These subjects are similar to the commerce subjects. There will be one paper in organisation and management functions, the second paper is in Financial Accounting, the third in Economics and the fourth in Mathematics. As part of the requirement it is a must that the candidate should secure a minimum of 40% marks. If the candidate is unable to clear any one paper then they will be required to reappear for all the exams. Also it is must that an overall 50% as an aggregate of all the papers is a must.

As part of the preparation for the exam you need to appear for a theoretical assessment. There are mainly 6 topics to be covered. The students need to study all the 6 topics which are prearranged into 4 papers. As to clear each paper students need to score a minimum of 40% in each of the paper. Candidates must also have a score above 50% in all the papers together. Otherwise they will have to reappear in all the papers again. If a student get through this then next level will be the intermediate. The subjects involved in the ICWAI are Organization and Management, Accounting, Economics and Business, Basic Mathematics and Statistics.

Syllabus of ICWAI foundation course
Course Structure for ICWAI at the Foundation level (ICWAI: Foundation Examination) consists of
only theoretical examinations. There are 6 subjects to be studied arranged into 4 papers of 100 marks each.
To pass a student has to obtain a minimum of 40% in each paper and an aggregate of 50% in all the papers together, failing which the student has to reappear in all the papers again.
A student has to get through these to be eligible to go for the next level i.e. INTERMEDIATE.

The duration for this course is Minimum 2 years and Maximum 5 years

In this course you will be having three levels:
>Foundation course
>Intermediate course
>Final course

Foundation course
This exam is conducted in the third week of June and the third week of December.This is a theoritical exam consisting of 6 subjects arranged in to 4 papers each of 100 marks.Your age should be (>/=17)

Intermediate course:
This exam is conducted in the second week of June and second week of December.This is a theoritical exam consisting of 6 subjects arranged in to 2 modules of 3 papers each of 100 marks


Final Course:
This exam is conducted in the month of June and December Second week.In this you will be having a practical Training.
