This is a very good question that you have asked. Many people have a big confusion in this place.
Well the answer to your question is NO. If you want to continue your degree course education, then no diploma course will help you. For every level of degree course of education, you will require a prior degree course education, be it higher secondary or graduation or even double graduation. So you will have to continue your course in degree format only in every level to be able to opt for further higher studies. Remember pass course graduation is also a degree course graduation. So that is eligible for any further studies (like MBA) or any job. Also if you do a degree course earlier, then you can go for a diploma course in parallel or as a subsequent one. But the reverse is not true. So prepare your career accordingly.

To pursue Degree course after Diploma you need to write Later Entry test.

The lateral entry test is for the students who want to pursue there higher studies after diploma.

You need to qualify the lateral entry test you can continue in 2 year engineering course with the same stream which you have taken in Diploma.

Eligibility Criteria for B.E./ B.Tech. Lateral Entry programmes


>>You should pass in Diploma examination from an AICTE Approved institution, with at least 50%
Marks (45% for reserved category) in appropriate Engineering /Technology

(or)

Pass in B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University with at least 50% Marks (45% for
reserved category) and passed XII standard with Mathematics as a subject.

Yes.After Diploma you can have direct admission to the second year of degre course. But the condition is you must be in top 5 rankers during your diploma course. Every year during admissions of degree courss some percentage of seats are reserved for diploma students. So only top students only are able to get degree admissions within such a competition. yes students are allowed for degree course after the diploma.....you will get lateral entry into engineering colleges that is you will join straight away in second year.....you can apply for this through AIEEE or state JEEs since it has been decided that from the year 2013 it will have a common entrance exam so you have to sit in the exam of ISNEET remember to choose the option lateral entry while filling up the form....
