    Hello,
Person of any stream can go for IAS, it only requires 200% dedication and awareness of the entire world around us. But if you have decided to go for it then you can go for the courses which include geography, history, economics related subjects. Enrich your knowledge with more of reading and improving your GK, and habit of continuous sitting for hours (8-10 at a stretch) with 200% concentration.

    Have confidence on yourself.

Re: Which stream should I opt in 11th to become an IAS officer? Suggest a good backup choice after 12th?

    Hi aspirant,

IAS is an high level administrative post which is one of the 3 most important civil srevices of government of India.
They not only have a control over common people and business man but also they have the power to question the authority of
    Union Government
    State governments
    Public Sector Undertakings

Indian Constituen Assembly introduced IAS posts with a hope of eradicating the fear of bureaucrats of financial insecurity and persecution for speaking freely of their rights.
And IAS officers had stood up to their hopes and had played a great in nation's unification.
IAS officers are employed under various state government officials and are recruited by Union Government under the command of Union Public Service Commission.
They are responsible for each and every disciplanary activities that take place in their controlled area.

For a IAS officer the most important thing he must know is the administrative privileges that are provided to him.
He should also the know the rights of every citizens as well as him,
He should know the political base of India.
And all this can be gained from Social Sciences stream.
You can opt for it through commerce or arts, it depends upon you.

After completing 10+2 you have to complete your Graduation from a authorised institution guided by UGC Act.
You are free to choose any stream, it would be better if you opt for honors in social sciences.
Thereafter you can apply for the Indian Civil Services exam whose main field of employment are:
    Indian Administrative Services
    Indian Police Services
    Indian Forest Services

As you have completed your graduation then you will have already satisfied the minimum age bar of 21 years.
Your age should not be more than 30 years.

For qualifying civil service exam you hae to pass its
    Preliminary
    Mains exam.

Preliminary exam deals with the branch you have pursued in your graduation level.

In Mains, exam will be conducted to check your any one Indian language power, general knowledge, English and personal conduct.
