    Hi,
You can opt for any stream in 12th as for applying for Indian administrative service(IAS),you need to write the UPSC exam for which minimum eligibility is that you should be atleast graduate in any discipline.

    So,whatever stream you take in 11th & 12th,
and whatever course you do in graduation degree does not make much difference.

Also, for writing UPSC exam you should be 21-30 years of age.

    Best of luck

There is no such particular stream which you should opt for after completing your 10th standard in order to become an
IAS(Indian administrative services) officer or to compete for civil services examination in future. For the time being, you should
fully concentrate on your higher secondary studies and should try to score a good percentage in that exam as it would
greatly help you in future. The civil services examination is conducted in three stages which can be mentioned as follows:
    1)Preliminary examinations
    2)Mains exam
    3)Personal interview.

In order to join IAS exam, you should have a Bachelor's Degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physcs, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring or an equivalent.

With Physics and Maths as your subjects in +2, you can join IAS even after completing your 12th standard.

Thumbs up Re: Which stream should I opt for 11th and 12th if I want to become an IAS officer in future?

Dear friend, it is nice to see that you want to become IAS officer in your future but for that you need to have think at graduation time.Choose any stream of your interest in 11th, there are basically three types of streams science, commerce & arts stream. You can choose any one stream which you think is best for you.Never chhose that stream in which you are not interested becasue doing such wrong step can spoil your future, so better is to pursue any stream but it must be of your interest.
Each and every stream is best, now there are many options in every streams so no need to worry much that it can affect your IAS dream.First choose any stream then pass 12th with good marks. After passing 12th choose any degree course of your interest, then after completing your graduation you need to fiil IAS form.

    IAS ELIGIBILITY
    >>You must be graduate in any stream from a recognized university
    >>Age limit- 21-30 years of age.

There is no such restriction to select the subjects in 11 or 12 whatever subject you like you can go for IAS..
Because this exams only requires the 60% marks in your +2 and more then 50% in your graduation in any stream...
there is also some relaxation for the reserved categories.....
For more information you can visit on the official website..
