Re: Which stream should I choose in 11th to become IAS officer in future? How to begin my preparation?

There is actually no such particular stream which you should opt for in order to become an IAS(Indian Administrative service) official in future.
Actually whatever stream you choose, you can choose subjects relating to that stream in the mains examinations of CSE(Civil Services Exam)
So, you do not need to worry at all and whatever you choose be it- science, arts , commerce or humanities, you would be able to choose
subjects of your personal choice in that examination.

As you are in 11th standard, I would suggest you to firstly concentrate on your studies of 11th and then higher secondary. After your 12th standard
is complete, you have to choose a graduation course(as the minimum qualification required to appear for CSE exams is to have a graduation
degree) and then you should concentrate on graduation. But you can start your civil services preparation right from the final year of graduation.

    IAS-
If you want to become IAS then there will be no necessary condition in choosing of subjects in 12th class or in the graduation.

Just you need to be graduate in any field as your own interest and apply for the IAS exams/./.

But if you want to suggestion from me then I suggest you to choose Arts subjects in the 11th class and in the graduation also go with same subjects as it helps a lot in order to Crack IAS exam which is held by UPSC every year…

Re: Which stream should I choose in 11th to become IAS officer in future? How to begin my preparation?

    Hi friend

**Good that you are aware from right now for your IAS preparation.

**IAS - Indian Administrative Service Exam..
It is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

**You can choose any stream you want. As IAS doesnt limit your academic qualifications to any particular stream .

**The only academic qualification you need is a pass in undergraduation in any discipline.

**So choose science or commerce whatever you wish .You can choose your undergraduation too of your choice.

    AGE LIMIT:

    *Minimum: 21
    *Maximum:30

**Upper age relaxable by 3 years for OBC and 5 for SC/ST.

**IAS Exam has three stages Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and an Interview

**The prelims are held around May-June.It has objective questions.

** There are two papers (duration of each being 2 hrs).

    a) General studies and
    b)Optional subject

**The main written examination usually takes place in Oct-Nov.

**It comprises of 9 papers in all

**Interview is the last level where your communicating skills ,leadership qualities and other social traits are tested.

    PREPARATION TIPS:

**If you want to whole heartedly dedicate your time toward IAS preparation , choose a UG degree like BA History or B Com Economics.

**This is so because the preliminary exam tests your knowledge in Current events of national and international importance , History of India and Indian national movement , Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world Indian Polity and governance, etc.

**Also develop your language skills as in mains an entire paper is dedicated to language. You shall be tested in Comprehension of given passages,Precis Writing , Usage and Vocabulary , Short Essay ,etc.

**So better start reading newspapers which will help you develop your language as well as strengthen your current affairs.
