    hello friend...

If you wanted to become an IAS officer..
you must choose the ARTS Stream other than Science and Commerce..
There is no rule that a Science or a Commerce student can not apply for CSAT exam..
But if you take the subject ARTS then it will be easier and helpful to you for clearing the PRELIMS..

    Thank you..

Re: Which stream to select in 11th if wish to become an IAS officer in future?

To give the IAS you can choose any subject because the minimum eligibility criteria to give this exam is that you need to be a graduate in any discipline.

It does not really matters which stream you belong to as they just look for graduates in any discipline from a recognized university.

Your age should be between 21-30 years.

At the most you can attempt for four times.

Selection procedure includes preliminary exams, main examination followed by interview.

So I want to tell you that take science stream in 11th class with maths, physics and chemistry as main subjects. Then you have to get a bachelor degree in science. You are elligible to become an IAS officer in future if you choose any streams, there is no restriction.

I think to become an IAS officer in future science would be the better option because IAS in the general papers and G.K u get a lot of questions from (10+2)science.Besides in some top ranking posts of IAS govt of india are reserved for science(sc) background only.So you have to score a good marks in this stream.Studying science will keep your learning , self study skills and skills to explore references alive.

    Hey friend,

There is nothing to be regarded to which stream you study in 11th standard. It is not about what you study in 11th as it is not needed.

The main thing needed as per the education qualification is that the candidate must have completed a degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

You need to get a fair percentage as there is nothing specific about the percentage which you need get.

Apart from the education qualification you need to have 21-30 years as per the age limits and you need to be a citizen of India,

There are certain upper age relaxation for certain category like Sc/ST, OBC and Ex-service men.

You will be selected by 3 stages in the exam which consist of:
    1. Preliminary Exam
    2. Main Exam
    3. Interview

If you are satisfying all the eligibility criteria for the exam you can apply for the IAS exam in 2 modes:

    >> Online
    >> Offline

Since you are just a 11th student there are many more years which you need to come through in order to apply for the IAS exam for joining in as IAS Officer.

For more information regarding the exam you can check at http://www.upsc.gov.in
