    SSC Junior Engineer Recruitment Test

    SSC carry out selection of candidates to ‘Junior Engineer’ post through a written exam and an interview. Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Department of Posts, Military Engineering Service (MES), and Central Water Commission (CWC) are the departments to which selected candidates are appointed. Appointments are done in sections of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering.

    Structure and Pattern of SSC Junior Engineer Recruitment Test

    There will be two papers for the test, Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is of objective model where as Paper II is of conventional type. Each paper must be completed with in time period of 2 hours. There will be a total of 500 questions. Paper I comprises of 200 questions and paper II includes 300 questions. Paper I includes questions from the following topics.
    • General Awareness - 50 questions
    • General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability -50 questions
    • General Engineering -100 questions
    Paper II covers questions on general engineering according to the subject selected by the candidate. This paper will only be evaluated if the candidate has qualified Paper I.

    Eligibility required for SSC Junior Engineer Recruitment Test

    Diploma is the basic eligibility required for the test. This qualification must be obtained from a recognized institution in the concerned stream. Eligibility requirements may vary slightly with department. For example, degree holders in related technical stream are also considered for Junior Engineer positions in military engineering services.

    Application Procedure for SSC Junior Engineer Examination

    Applications can be forwarded either through the official web portal of SSC or post. Application fee for the test is Rs. 100/-. Those who are selecting online mode of application submission should submit their application fee through State Bank of India. Others can make their fee payment via ‘Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS)’ only. CRFS stamps can be collected from all departmental post offices across the country.

    Staff Selection Commission will conduct a Combined All India Open Examination for Recruitment to the posts of Junior Engineer in various Departments, the details of which are given below:
    Vacancies :
    Central Public Works Department (CPWD) : 192 for Junior Engineers (Civil) & 186 for Junior Engineers (Electrical)
    Central Water Commission (CWC): 82 for Junior Engineers (Civil) & 23 for Junior Engineers (Mech)
    Military Engineering Service (MES) : 155 for Junior Engineers (Civil) & 91 for Junior Engineers (Electrical/ Mech), 13 for JE (Quantity Surveying & Contracts)
    Farakka Barrage: will be determined in due course.
    Deptt. Of Post : will be determined in due course .
    Date Of Written Exam : 8th April, 2012.
    Age Limit : 18 to 27 years(Some relaxations are also provided as per rules).
    Educational Qualification : Degree/ Diploma in Civil or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an institution recognized by Govt. of India.
    Pay Scale : Rs. 9300-34800 grade pay Rs. 4200/-
    Application Fee : Rs. 100/- in the form of Central Recruitment Fee Stamps. No fee for SC/ ST/ PH/ Women and Ex-servicemen candidates.
