Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati is a sophisticated super speciality hospital at Tirupati. Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences caters to the medical needs of the poor and needy in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. SVIMS was conceived in 1986 on the lines of AIIMS, New Delhi and the foundation stone was laid on 18.4.86 by Late Sri.N.T.Rama Rao, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in the world famous piligrim town Tirupati. It was established with a view to providing Super Speciality facilities with nominal cost to the poor.

This Institute became a University in 1995. With in a short time of establishment, Intially it functioned under the Directorship of Dr.Satyanarayana and under the Chairmanship of Dr.Kakarla Subba Rao, afterwards Dr.K.V.Naidu improved the hospital as second Director successfully for three years, afterwards Dr.C.Surya Prakasa Rao as third Director successfully for three years. The present Director is Dr.G.Subrmanyam.

Objectives :-

1 To create a centre of excellence for providing medical care, educational and research facilities of a higher order in the field of medical sciences in the existing super specialities and such other super specialities as may develop in future, including continuing medical education and hospital administration.
