The Sophia College for women was established in the year 1942. The college is administered by the Society for the Higher Education of Women in our country. The staff of the college comprises mainly of the Religious Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Admission procedure in Sophia College

For admission into the Junior college, the students should have a pass in the S.S.C. examination or equivalent. Those students who want to join the Senior College must have cleared H.S.C. examination or equivalent. Candidates who have not acquired a degree from the Maharashtra Board are required to obtain the "Provisional Eligibility Certificate" from the Registrar, Mumbai University.

The Sophia College facilitates the students with a well furnished library, internet café, canteen, college buses etc. The students can participate in activities like seminars, assignments, workshops, debate and group discussion according to their choice. There are many clubs in the college for dancing, music and singing and there is also a talent search every year.
