The single book is not enough for the getting top rank in the civil service examinations. The civil service examinations are the most competetive exam in the world. Which is more important for our country. You need hard work and much practice than other examinations. There are many materials are availabie for cool stores. There are many coaching centres are in all over india. There are many number of websites providing more informations and the practice tests. So you can work hard. Best of luck.

no from only single book it will be quite difficult for any one.
To be a IAS you have to appear for UPSC exam and the eligibility criteria is min. graduation. Then the UPSC exam consists of 3 parts that is Pre.exam , main exam, and interview.
all the questions are based on GK,current affairs etc.and in interview you have to through all the things "UNDER THE SKY"you must know it...!!?

Dear friend, to prepare for IAS you need to clear your concepts by hard and for these you have to take help of different books of different authors because some topics are given only in a book which are useful. So you better consult different books to learn different topics but you should also consult an experienced person for refernce of books (of the subjects choosen by you).
    Best of luck ..............

Re: Is Single book preparation enough to top the IAS entrance examination?

    Hi Dear,
Well i appreciate your query , for the preparation of Civl Services one book is not enough dear, but it doesn't mean that you have read or mugup all books which are around you . Firstly you have to decide in which subject you are interest, and then the next step should be that fill the application form of UPSC exam and then you should know the pattern of the examination which will come in civil services exam. There are 3 stages in this exam i.e Pre - examination , Main - examination and the last is an interview stage . So, for preparibng for this exam you have choose few subjects for the preparation for IAS . like history , economics, sociology etc and then go for the syllabus of that particular subject from the website www.upscportal.com .And then start preparing for the examination ,in which you have to take the help from your friends, coaching ,various study materials and many more .Best of luck . Thanks

no you cant rely on a single book for preparing the top most exam of india..... read newspaper daily or refer magzines like competition sucess, pritiyogita darpan etc. go for ncert books of class 6 to 12 for science and esp. social science to improve clarity of base in social science.

Dear civil servants works thoroughly . they thought widely on all aspects, more study refrence books provides new concepts in mind & can only provide good marks. Therefore study by multiple books may be more helpful rather than a single book to achieve highest score.

Please dont depend on a single book alone. You need to develop your knowledge widely. Hence use different resources such as online resources, newspaper, magazines, and many more related to the exam. You need to have a broad idea in all the subjects related to your studies, current affairs, general knowledge and many more.

If you have interst to gain knowledge then only single book is sufficient but if you have not interest then 10 books are less for Study.

Red face Re: Is Single book preparation enough to top the IAS entrance examination?

Indian Administrative Services (IAS) entrance examination is organized by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The pattern of IAS exam is changed by UPSC from 2011 .

    New Pattern :-
The Preliminary Test (PT) is replaced by Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT).

    CSAT Syllabus :-
Examination would consist of two papers- Paper I and Paper II.
    PAPER I :-
    1) Current events of national and international importance.
    2) History of India and Indian national movement.
    3) Indian and World Geography.
    4) Indian Polity and governance.
    5) Economic and social development.
    6) General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change.
    7) General science.
    PAPER II :-
    1) Comprehension.
    2) Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
    3) Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
    4) Decision making and problem solving.
    5) General mental ability.
    6) Basic numeracy , Data interpretation.
    7) English language comprehension skills.
    Preparation for IAS :-
For qualifying in the examination you have to know all the fundamentals of class X and also in outside knowledges like GK. So, I don't think that single book preparation is enough to top the IAS.
    Books :-
    1) All books of 10th standard.
    2) Books of GK and Current Affairs.
    3) Aptitude books of Barrons.
You prepare from these books and crack the IAS entrance exam.

Absolutely not dear. IAS exams are not that easy as you think. You have to go through a vast syllabus. An IAS aspirant must have deep knowledge of the subjects and have command over them. And for that purpose definitely one book is never enough.
