No, there is no need to pursue any short term courses after B.Tech to join the Indian Navy. The main criterion for applying for the Indian navy is to attend the written examination. This written examination is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year. The candidates have to attend the CDS exam. They should be graduates who are either from the engineering or the B.Sc back ground with Physics and mathematics as the main subjects. The graduation should be secured from any recognized institution. The age limit for the candidates should be 19 – 24 years. Only male candidates who are unmarried can apply. The candidates should be Indian nationals. The candidates should also follow certain physical requirements specified for becoming eligible to join Navy.

The criteria to join defence services is as follows:

1. You must be graduate with min. 60% marks..
2. You must be below the age of 25 years.
3. The eyesight will be 6/6 without spectacle and 6/24 with spectacles
4. There will be no Year Back/ Fail in a year in your graduation..
