Yes selecting IT is a good option after 12th.
Since you are an IT branch student so you have a great carrier in IT industries. Most of the jobs are available for you in the private sector and the public sector but you have less scope in the government sector.

hii so need to worry computer science enginneirng is quite easy you will learn all the new concepts here only.you need to have simple basic computer knowledge that can be learnable through from the NIIT.also if possible you can learn the C,C++ that is much helpful for you in later stage of engineering.you can also buy any good computer books like the yashwant kanitkar lets us c book and start practice from the home , enginering easy and could be learned fast.

Of course yo can build a bright career and future after going for information Technology branch in B.Tech after your completion of 12th standard.
But the thing is most of IT companies ask for Career percentage of 60% minimum.
Before that you have to get through the engineering entrance examinations for which you must have 50% in PCM in the 12th standard.
Better understanding of the IT subjects like C,C++,JAVA will carry you to a good IT professional in future.
