    Is a science student eligible to crack IAS exam? If yes, Tell some material to start my preparation?

    i am a student of science(maths) frm icse board i wanna crack ias exams can a sci student crack ias exams and if yes then pls tell some criteria for preparation really its my dream job pls suggest me...

    There is no specific criterion that students from the science background cannot crack the IAS exam. The minimum eligibility criterion for the applying for this exam is a graduation degree in any discipline. Any candidate who prepare for the exam in a proper way can get through the exam. You can join some reputed coaching institutes which provide training in this area. The coaching institutes will provide specialized training in this area. You can refer the previous year question papers for reference. The coaching institutes will provide knowledge in various short cut methods to crack the questions easily. You also needed to get updated about the various events which will help in the exam.

    Firstly, I have to Informed you that, the eligibility criteria is same for all the candidates. If your aim is to become IAS Officer in future then for this you have to complete your Graduated degree course in any discipline from a recognized University.

    If you have completed your Graduate degree course in Science, then you are eligible to apply for this year civil services examination.

    This examination is Conducted every year by UPSC, and the notification will be published every year in the employment newspaper or in the UPSC Website. The Civil Services Examination is conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various services like the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service, as well as Group A and Group B Central Services.

    UPSC has changed the pattern of the Exam from 2012 and has replaced the existing Preliminary Examination with a Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), which will be a common Test for all candidates. Those who cracked this examination are eligible to appear for Main examination. There are 2 papers in Preliminary examination.

    In Main examination there are 9 papers and you have to choose the subjects in main examination on the basis of Graduation. The Question Papers III to IX will be set both in Hindi and English.

    You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years, The upper age limit will be relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates, by 3 years for candidates of OBC.

    To apply for this examination you must hold a degree of Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. You not need to scored any minimum percentage is Graduation to apply for this examination.

    Those who are in final year are also apply for this examination.

    So, please start prepared for this examination as per the syllabus and Pattern. The selection are based on written test and Personal Interview.

    Yes You are Eligible to apply for The IAS Examination and the eligibility Criteria is you need to complete your Graduation from a recognized University with any discipline. The Notifications about the exams are given in the employment newspapers or updated in the official website:




    Age Limits:

    • You need to have a minimum age limit of 21 to 30 years
    • 5 years age Relaxation for SC/ST
    • 3 years age Relaxation for OBC

    Eligibility:
    • You must Complete your Graduation from a recognized university from any discipline.
    • Final year students can also apply for the exam.
    • You Must be a citizen of India.

    Exam pattern:

    The Exam is Divided into two parts

    1). Preliminary Exam
    2). Main Exam

    The Preliminary Exam has two papers and each paper carry 200 Marks and the duration is 2 hours.

    The Main Has 7 papers and each carry 300 Marks and the Essay writing carries 200 Marks . The Weight age for the Man exam is about 2000 Marks. the Interview will carry about 300 Marks. If you get a good score in all of these exams then you can take training for the IAS.



    The Exam notification will be given on 04:02:2012 and the last date for the submission of forms will be on 05:03:2012 and the UPSC I exams will be conducted on 20:05:2012. The UPSC II Exams will be conducted on 05:10:2012.

    Go through the paper daily and increase your vocabulary by learning new meanings everyday. Watch news channels like BBC and CNN which will improve your fluency. Go Through the UPSC general Studies Book to Score good rank in the Examination.

    Hi,

    you did not give any mention about your qualification. If you have done your Graduation degree then you can appear.
    IAS conducted by UPSC examination.
    Age limit is not below 21 years. and not more than 30 years on 1st August of the year of examination.
    Maximum attempts 4 for General, 7 for OBC, no limit for SC/ST.

    Education Qualification:--
    The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other
    deemed University.
    Candidates appearing in the final exam or also eligible. Candidate has to pass the examination and submit the proof before main
    examination.
    Notification Published Date is - 04/Feb/2012.
    Last Date of apply - 05/March/2012
    Examination date - 20/May/2012.

    IAS officers are at very reputed post,so for such exams one ave to work hard very much.IAS exam is conducted by UPSC every year for IAS aspiring candidates.As you are school student so presently you are not eligiglbe for IAS exam.For IAS exam you need to be graduate in ant stream,so first complet your class 12th & then move for graduation course in any stream of your interest.
    PAPER PATTERN:-
    Following is the IAS exam paper pattern:-

    Above is shown interview test for which only those candidates will be eligible who will clear all other exams.
    ELIGIBILITY:-
    >You must be graduate from a UGC recognized university.
    >You must score minimum 50% marks in graduation.
    >Age limit---21-30 years of age

    If you are come from any stream then you are eligible for IAS..The eligibility is same...


    IAS stands for Indian Administrative officer.Union Public Service commission(UPSC) will hold the IAS exam every year.
    The examination should conducted n 2 phases namely

    Preliminary examination
    Min examination..


    After clearing the preliminary examination you are eligible for main examination..

    Eligibility for IAS:

    You must complete your Graduation from any recognized university.
    Your age should not more than 30 years and not less than 21 years.The upper age limit will be applicable for ST/SC/OBC candidates...
    You should be citizen from India..

    Number of attempts:

    4 for General candidates
    7 for OBC candidates
    No limit for ST/SC candidates..

    Age qualifications:

    3 years for OBC candidates
    5 years for ST/Sc candidates
    10 years for PH candidates...


    Examination pattern:

    General Issues on environmental ecology,Bio diversity and climate change that do not require subject specialization.
    General science.

    Paper-II:

    Comprehension
    Interpersonal skills including communication skills
    Logical Reasoning and analytical ability
    Decision Making and problem solving
    General Mental ability
    Basic Numeracy
    English Language comprehension skills.
    Questions relating to English language comprehension skills of X level..

    IAS exam is one of the best exam for those who makes their career in Civil services.
    UPSC conduct examination for various post of civil services
    For IAS exam :-
    The candidate must pass graduation degree in any discipline.
    2.The age of the candidate must be between 21-30 years
    Therelaxation in upper age limit will be 5 years for SC/ST candidates, by 3 years for candidates of OBC.
    3.Final year student can also apply for this examination.
    4.you must be citizen of india.

    Hi Friend ,

    Yes , you can crack ias exams.In fact technical stream students often crack Civil Services Exam , Do dnt worry about that if you are well prepared .

    To become IAS you have to apply for civil service exam which consist of preliminary exam ,main exam and interview
    If you clear preliminary exam only then you will get select for main exam and interview.

    A. Preliminary Examination


    PAPER I: is of 2 hours and 200 marks

    PAPER II:Is of 2 hours and 200

    Both papers will consist of Objective Type questions only.

    B. Main Examination


    PAPER I:

    One of the Indian Languages chosen from the prescribed list is of 3 hours and 300

    PAPER II:Is of English of 3 hours and 300 marks

    PAPER III:Is Essay of 3 hours of 200

    PAPER IV: Optional Subject 1 of 3 hours and 300 marks

    PAPER V:Optional Subject 1 of 3 hours and 300

    PAPER VI:Optional Subject 2 of 3 hours 300 marks

    PAPER VII:Optional Subject 2 of 3 hours and 300 marks

    Total

    2000

    The papers on Indian Languages and English will be of Matriculation or equivalent
    standard and will be of qualifying nature; the marks obtained in these papers will not be
    counted for ranking.

    ELIGIBILITY:

    Education :
    Bachelorís degree of a recognised university.

    Age limits :
    21-30 years for general students
    35 years for SC/ST
    33 for OBC .
