    The applicant must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. The candidates must have chosen Punjabi as one of the elective or compulsory subjects in their matriculation. The age limit for the exam is 21-35 years. For Punjab Police Service, the candidates should not be below 21 years and should not be above 28 years. The candidates can attempt the exam at most 4 times. The minimum height required for men is 5 feet 7 inches and that for women is 5 feet 3 inches. The chest measurement required for men before expansion is 33 inches and that after expansion is 34.5 inches.

    What is PCS?
    The PCS is the name of government recruitment exam. The full form of this exam is Personal Communications Service.

    There are two types of PCS exam
    1. Punjab civil service
    2. UPSC civil service

    Qualifications required for Punjab PCS exam
    • You should have a graduation degree from any stream from an Indian University.
    • You should have the Punjabi language in matriculation.

    Physical Requirements for PCS
    • Minimum height of Men: 5'.7"
    • Minimum height of Women: 5'.3"
    • Chest Measurement for Men (Unexpanded): 33"
    • Chest Measurement for Men (Expanded): 341/2"

    2. AGE LIMIT

    (i) Provided that in the case of Punjab Police Service, you should have attained the minimum age of twenty-one years and should not have attained the age of twenty-eight years on the first day of the year, referred to above.
    (ii) Provided that in the case of Deputy Superintendent of Police, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes of Punjab are relaxed in age upto 5 years as per Punjab Government Instructions.
    b) The upper age limit for a Punjab Government employee, including that of a court, who has not less than four years continuous service under the Government, will be relaxable up to 45 years.
    c) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable up to a maximum of five years for Schedules Castes and Scheduled Tribes of all States and Backward Classes of Punjab.
    d) The upper age limit for widows, divorcees and certain other categories of women of Punjab will be relaxable up to 40 years.

    e) Age relaxation in upper age limit, upto 10 years to the disabled persons of Punjab.
    f) An ex-serviceman of Punjab domicile shall be allowed to deduct the period of his
    service in Armed Forces of the Union from his actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for direct appointment to such a vacancy in the Service Rules concerned by more than three years, he shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit.

    3. NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS AT THE EXAMINATION

    a) Unless covered by any of the exceptions, which may from time to time, be notified by the Government in this behalf, every candidate appearing for the examination after the commencement of these rules, shall be permitted to avail four attempts at the examination.
    Explanation:- For the purpose of this rule, an appearance of a candidate in the Preliminary Examination, shall be deemed to be an attempt at the examination.
    b) A Punjab Government servant, including that of court, who is otherwise eligible , and has not less than four years of continuous service on the last date fixed by the Commission for submission of applications and who has not availed of three chances in addition to those which he might have availed of in any other capacity, is eligible to apply under this category;
    c) Ex-servicemen category candidates are permitted only three attempts at the examination.

    4. NATIONALITY

    You shall be a:

    a) Citizen of India; or
    b) Citizen of Nepal; or
    c) Subject of Bhutan; or
    d) Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the Ist January. 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India; or
    e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda and United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganike and Zanzibar) Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India;
    Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of Punjab in the Department of Home Affairs and Justice.

    PCS STANDS FOR PUNJAB CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION CONDUCTED BY THE PUNJAB SERVICE COMMISSION FOR RECRUITING THE CANDIDATES IN DIFFERENT GOVERNMENT SERVICES.

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :-

    Hello Friend,

    PCS examination are Conducted By the Every State govt. Service commission.
    For the various posts like:

    Police services
    Block development Offeciers
    Sell tax officer
    VAO
    CO
    etc…


    Here I am suggesting Some Eligibility Criteria for PCS/IAS,please go through it.



    Eligibility Criteria For IAS/PCS

    (i) Age limits :

    21-30 years as on 1.7.2012. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories as specified in Para 3(ii) of Notice).


    (ii) Educational Qualifications :

    Bachelor’s degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physcs, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring or an equivalent qualification (Para 3(iii) of Notice).

    (iii) No. of permissible attempts :

    Four (Seven attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs (Para 3 (iv) of Notice)


    (iv) Fee :

    Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only)
    (No fee for SCs/STs/Physically disabled only)

    Chest Measurement for Men (Expanded): 341/2"

    Age Limit for PCS Exam 2012

    The applicant should not be below 21 years and not above 35 years.

    For Punjab Police Service the candidate should not be below 21 and should not be above 28 years.

    For SC/ST a relaxation of 5 years are given for Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) the candidate.

    For Physically Challenged applicants upper age limit is relaxable up to 45 years.

    For widows and Divorcees upper age limit is relaxable up to 40 years.

    PCS means Punjab Civil Services.
    Qualification - Candidates must be have graduation degree in any stream from a recognized university.
    Age - Must be between 21 to 35 years.
    Relaxation on age are following -
    1>SC/ST -5 years
    2>OBC - 3 years.
    How to apply - Form will be submitted by Post office worker.
    Form cost - Rs 500 For General category.
    Both boys and girls are eligible for this exam.
