    Dear friend,
If you want to be a IAS officer then you have to appear for CSAT exam conducted by UPSC every year.

UPSC conducts this exam in three stages:

    1.Pre-exam

    2.Main Exam

    3. Interviews.

MY friend through CSAT candidates are selected for IAS,IPS,IFS .And for IAS around 30-50 seats are there.
SO if you want to become a IAS only then you have to have good merit no .You should be under 60 or 70 merit no.Otherwise you can not get IAS seat.

and for that you have to work hard you have to score well.

    best of lk...

Re: Which rank in Civil Service Exam will get me the Indian Administrative Service?

Civil services examination is one of the toughest examination of our country. You have to work really hard to clear this examination. And as far as IAS(Indian administrative service)
it is the highest position which one can get after clearing CSE(Civil services examination).

Now I would like to come to your question, you have asked that which should you get in order to get Indian Administrative service(position).
As I have mentioned that this is the highest position which you would get after facing this exam, so there are only top 50 which are given an opportunity to
select this position. So, if you want to be an IAS, then you have to be in the top 50 of this examination.

You have to face the following procedure in order to clear this examination:
    1)Initial level-
This level is called preliminary examination.Any graduate who has scored a minimum persentage of 50% during graduation is eligible to appear for this examination.

    2)Intermediate level-
The second level in the procedure to clear this examination is to clear the Mains exams. You have to clear this examination in order to move on to the next level.
This is the stage where even the best students are sometimes out of the procedure.

    3)Personal interview-
This is the third and the most crucial stage in the whole procedure. The students are given the opportunity to address the interviewer in whatever language they want.

IAS is the high ranked exam in India which is conducted by UPSC evey year. Choosing IAS is really very good option!!! Because You will be part of the Govt. You can work from “the inside” and change “the system”!! Being an IAS officer, there is a lot more power and control you have so that you can be part of Emerging India.

I will directly come to your question now!!! If you get a rank which is below 50-60 will surely give you IAS!!!!!! Yes, if you want to become an IAS officer, then you must have to get the rank below 50-60. If you get below 150 rank , then you can get IPS!!
