no u cant cause the subject of elcetronics has given u a knowledge about the circuits but the C.S.E branch gives u a total subject about the software technology, so it is better to take up electronics in gate

    dear friend,
Its not possible,if you have done your degree in electronics then you can give gate exam only in electronics branch.
    Eligibility for GATE exam is:

1.Candidate should be a Indian citizen.

2.Candidate should have done his/her degree in any of engg. trade.

3.Masterís degree holders in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre Ė final year of such programs.

    4. Candidate should have min 50% marks in degree.

Some of good institute you will get through GATE:
    1.Indian Institute of Science Bangalore
    2. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
    3. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
    4. Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
    5. Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
    6.Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
    7. Indian Institute of Technology Madras
    8. Indian Institute of Technology Roorke

The cost of the form Rs.1000. Online form cost is Rs.800 for OBC and general category students. For SC/ST students the cost is half of that.

The application forms will be available in September. The forms are available until October 3rd week. Filled forms can submitted online until October last week and offline before November 1st week. The results come out by March mid week.

No, you cannot give GATE in branch other than your branch in B.Tech.
You have done B.Tech in Electronics, so you will have to give GATE in Electronics only.

    Eligibilty for GATE exam is:
1 Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of
    such programmes.

2 If you are in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher
year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

3 with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute
of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. If you have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

    Best of luck

    Hi friend

It is not compulsory to pursue the same course what you did in your undergraduate.
You are eligible to write GATE if you

1.Are a gradaute in engineering or technology or architecture.

2.If you are a master's degree holder in Science or Maths or Statistics.

    So you are eligible.

    ALL THE BEST
