Re: Is it possible for a Civil Engineer to become IAS Officer?

Yes it is absolutely possible for a civil engineer to become a IAS officer.
Infact engineers and doctors mostly dominate the IAS results. In the 2011 IAS
results 15 out of the top 25 candidates were from engineering background.
The eligibility for Civil services examination is that the candidate must hold a Bachelors
degree in any discipline from a recognised institute. So you are also eligible
as you hold your Bachelors degree in engineering.
Now also the preliminary examination pattern for the civil services examination
has been changed and more emphasis is being laid down on Reasoning, quantitative
aptitude etc, so this is a benefit for candidates from engineering background.
